American Influence

•Because Havana was a major port, America’s imports gave many jobs and opportunities to Cubans.

•Americans owned and operated sugar estates, coffee plantations, and tobacco farms which would mostly be exported from the Havana port.

•By 1920 there were around 7000 bars operated in Havana most of which were American dominated

•By the 1950’s Havana became a place where Americans could indulge in all the things that were looked down upon on American soil

•Sexual freedom

•Wild nights

•Romantic breaks
