INT. BASEMENT OF A ABANDONED HOUSE - DUSK

On the screen we see MONDAY.

Plastic sheeting hides bare walls and an unfinishedabandoned house, trash is spun about and looks like as

though people are hiding beneath. LATIESHA is a strung outwoman in her mid to late thirties. She is excited and rushedand enters with with her two daughters. They all have oldbags.

LATIESHAGet in here... OK this will work.OK, get in here. yea... I likethis.

We see Latiesha’s daughter, CORA and her older sister,LAUREN looking on. Cora moves closer to her mom who hasfound a broken mirror.

CORAMom...

LATIESHAHey... OK. We all need to stayhere, but momma gotta go for aminute. Momma gotta go. Yesssss

Latiesha leaves the basement, but not before forgetting toput on some cheap jewelry, looking in the mirror and givingthe girls more instruction.

LATIESHAHEY - hey... anyone comes herlooking for me. We ain’t here andwe all hiding out, cuz we all goneand already left town, not comingback. Train left. Long time ago...

Latiesha looks behind Cora then back at Cora then scramblesout. Cora moves to where her mom just was standing. Lauren,in the background, begins to shift through cardboard boxesand trash.

LAURENWe have so much good stuff here!

Cora has little expression on her face.

LAURENCora, look crayons! I found tons ofcrayons!

CORAI don’t like this place.

LAURENAt least this place does not smelllike mold.

CORAWhere do you think mom went?

LAURENI don’t know and it doesn’t matter.She’ll come back eventually.

Cora snaps out of it and turns around and joins an activeLauren who has moved several boxes around.

LAURENI will put all of them here for

later and this will be your canvas.We can also use these for pillows.

Lauren takes some newspapers and begins to make a pillow.She also folds out some cardboard, trying to lay it like anexpensive rug and another as canvas. She carefully placesout the broken crayons.

LAURENReady Cora?

Lauren sits Indian style on the cardboard and Cora soonfollows. The girls sit across from each other. They take

each others hands, and is clear Lauren is in charge. Laurenclose her eyes and Cora follows. Lauren mumbles a smallprayer under her breath.

INT. MANSION - DAY - FANTASY

Lauren and Cora enter the living room of a wonderful housewearing bright fun clothes. The find a array of gifts, a toybox, an easel with a canvas, acting props, and two amazinggowns. They try and hide their Christmas like zeal withpretend personalities.

LAURENWOOOOwwww!

Lauren finds a silly wig.

Lauren’s acting cracks Cora up as they play more with theacting props. In looking for more acting props that uncoverpainter’s paint. They both look at each and know what to do.Cora takes and moves the easel out to her liking and Laurenfind a comfortable place to set and admire her work. Corahesitates for a moment and looks up.

LAURENDraws a BIIIIIg castle!

Cue Music as we enter into a montage of:

A) Lauren looking and admiring Cora’s work

B) Cora working hard on her painting

C) Lauren acting out a character from the painting

D) Cora sharing an important decision of her work with

Lauren

Finally the artwork is complete. Cora reveals it to Laurenwho acts like she is super rich.

INT. ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY

On the screen we see WEDNESDAY.

We see a painting of what looks like a castle on cardboardleaning up against the wall. Then we see Lauren and Coraasleep, close to each other. Quiet.

Suddenly a knock is heard and the faint sound of Leonard.

LEONARD(o.s.)

Hey... Hello... Latiesha?

Sounds of door opening are heard. Cora wakes up. She goestowards the door when Lauren grabs her.

LAURENNo, remember what Mom said aboutstrangers.

Cora remembers and they both wake up and back up. The hearthe sound of glass breaking.

LEONARD(o.s.)

Bitch. I knows you all here. I cansmell you and that BRAT of yours.

Lauren grabs Cora into a little trash fort they built. Thesound of Leonard’s deep voice is heard.

LEONARDI need something. Come on now.Where are you at?

The girls are well hidden and we don’t see them outsidetheir trash fort. The sound of Lenora’s heavy footsteps areheard.

LEONARDKnock knock. Come on now. I’m good,I’m good. Where you at, huh?Latiesha?

From the girls POV we see Lenora’s footsteps as they walkall around.

LEONARDWHERE YOU AT? I AIN’T PLAYING - NO.LEONARD AIN’T PLAYING NOW.

Leonard is whipping about tearing thru things - looking forsomething. His footsteps address the trash fort. They comecloser. Footsteps closer. They are right in front of theirline of vision. Lenard’s hand is seen. His hand drawscloser...

INT. MANSION - DAY - FANTASY

A door opens out of darkness and it is Leonard, dressed as abutler.

LEONARDAh, so I found you.

This girls bust out laughing and make inside jokes. Leonardpulls out a covered dish.

LEONARDThis is just a taste if what isdownstairs.

Leonard reveals one heart shaped pancake. The girls eyes getbig and they rush downstairs. Leonard rushes to catch them,sure not to miss a beat.

INT. DINING HALL - DAY

A huge breakfast spread greets the two girls. They aretrying their best to contain their excitement and pretend tobe their characters.

LAURENDoesn’t this look lovely.

CORAwhy yes it does.

Leonard follows and lands in front of the table with a warmsmile. The girls sit down in pretend characters. Leonardexits.

LAUREN(whispering)

We are so lucky!

CORAI love you.

LAUREN(clear - as if not to wake herup out of her fantasy)

And I love you to!

CORAAre you scared?

LAUREN

Scared like a mouse?

Cora laughs.

Leonard enters with two saucers, one with hot syrup and theother with hot butter as well as a huge paint brush. Heplaces them with skill on the table. He exits with a bigwarm smile.

LAURENWhat are you going to paint on yourpancakes, a big castle?

CORAShouldn’t we run?

Lauren, concerned Cora might awaken from the fantasy, looksover as if to cause Leonard to enter quickly back into theroom and distract her. Leonard enters quickly is on thephone talking with great joy.

INT. ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY

On the screen we see FRIDAY.

Lauren’s arm is bruised and she looks dazed. The place ismore of a mess.

Lauren is fixing Cora’s hair and is gently humming a tune.Finally Cora speaks.

CORAWhen do you think Mom will be back?I am so hungry.

LAURENSoon! I know so. Hey do you knowwhat will look good in you hair? Apink ribbon...

CORAMom has never left us alone thislong.

LAURENShe will be back!

CORAYou think so?

LAURENI know so.

CORAYea...

LAURENYour hair is getting so long.

The sound of door opens. We hear Latiesha.

LATIESHAHey - come on. We gotta go.

Latiesha is in a panic, rushing to get her things.

CORAMom!

LATIESHAGet your things Cora.

Latiesha rummages thru her old bags. She finds a gun.

CORAMom... wait...

In the background we see Leonard. He was sleeping and awakesquickly. Latiesha does not know he is there.

We now see the action from Cora’s POV.

LEONARDWhy you gotta be like this... Nowwe had a deal. A deal is deal.

LATIESHAI WILL shoot you.

LEONARDOK. Then. I will stand right hereand let you shoot me. Wait... youare going to shoot and kill me overgiving me my drugs. I had some fun

with your BRAT now I just NEED mydrugs, and my money and maybe...

LATIESHAI ain’t got dem. I will shoot you.I WILL SHOOT YOU.

We see more scuffling and fighting. From Cora’s POV she getsup and goes to her Mom.

CORAMOM! No!

A GUN FIRES. Leonard runs out. Latiesha grabs Cora’s arm.They run...

EXT. BROKEN DOWN HOUSE - DAY

Letiehsa has Cora’s arm and is dragging her out of thehouse. Lauren is left at the doorway.

CORAMom, mom, what about Lauren?

IN the rush Latiesha stops, knells down and looks Cora inthe eyes.

LATIESHAWhat, no... What’d I tell you..their ain’t no Lauren. I don’t knowwhat drugs you been stealing fromme, cuz I know you have. Now comeon, we got to go.

Cora looks back and sees Lauren growing further and furtheraway. Cora frees herself from her Mother’s grasp and runsback to get Lauren. She runs with tears in her eyes.

Suddenly she is shot. Leonard shot her and then runs forLatiesha. Cora looks to see Lauren who is bleeding the same

place Cora got shot. She is there. Then her image fades.

Cora falls in the grass, she is dieing.

INT. MANSION - DAY

Leonard, Latiesha and Lauren are waiting downstairs. Laurenis in an amazing gown and is halfway down the stairs andLatiesha is in a wonderful dress. They are waiting forsomeone. Suddenly Cora emerges. She is dressed in abeautiful gown. She looks amazing. She walks slowly down thestairs. She is confident and happy. Halfway down she takes

the hand of Lauren. Together they hold hands down thestairs.

Once at the bottom Cora looks and Leonard then at her Momwho is beaming with pride.

They exit the house.
