2 Hawkeye CAM Overview

If you have several whiteboards in the same room, you can install aseparate Camera Boom for each one. As many as four separate CameraBooms can be controlled from a single computer.

Hawkeye CAM SoftwareHawkeye CAM software enables you to control the Camera Boom fromyour computer. Once it has been installed, the Camera Boom is alwaysready. All you need to do is start the Hawkeye CAM software and you canbegin capturing ideas. Just click the Capture Image button and the noteson your whiteboard will be captured as full-color images. Hawkeye CAMautomatically enhances every image that is captured by whitening thebackground, sharpening the writing and refining the colors.

You can reorder, copy, delete, print and save captured images. You canalso import images from another file or image capturing device, providedthat the device complies with the TWAIN standard. TWAIN is an openstandard interface that makes it possible to activate a scanner, documentcamera or other image-capturing device while using a graphics application.

NOTE: The supplied drywall anchors are not suitable for walls thicker than5/8" (1.59 cm). If the wall is constructed of drywall thicker than 5/8" (1.59cm), use E-Z drywall anchors for double-layer drywall.

If the marked location is at a wall stud, use a No. 8 by 1.5" (3.81 cm) longwood screw or a self-drilling metal screw without a drywall anchor.

2 Align the Camera Boom wall bracket with the drywall anchors. Insertscrews into E-Z toggle drywall anchors as follows:

a Using the Phillips screwdriver, press the screw firmly into the drywallanchor until approximately 1/3 of the screw remains.

b Thread the remaining length of the screw into the drywall anchor untilit’s tight. At first the screw will thread with unusual ease, but it willgradually require greater effort as the clamp inside the wall movesforward.

12 Calibrating Hawkeye CAM

Calibrating Hawkeye CAMThe Camera Boom houses three digital cameras. Each camera captures aportion of the notes on your whiteboard. After the notes have beencaptured, the three images are stitched together into a single snapshot andexcess wall surface that was captured by the cameras is cropped. Duringthis process, the image is normalized and keystoning is corrected. Theprocesses used to stitch, crop, normalize and otherwise improve imagequality occur automatically each time you press the Capture Image button.

All you need to do is calibrate the Camera Boom. Under mostcircumstances, you only need to calibrate a Camera Boom once beforeyou use it to capture whiteboard notes for the first time. However, if theCamera Boom or whiteboard is moved, you may need to repeat thecalibration process.

To calibrate a Camera Boom, you’ll need to complete the following twotasks:

1 Refine how images from the three cameras are aligned during stitching(pages 12 through 14).

2 Define the frame used to crop the captured image (page 14).

Refining Image AlignmentThe image alignment parameters assigned to your Camera Boom duringmanufacturing may not reflect the exact position of your Camera Boomonce it’s mounted on the wall. To ensure that the images taken by thethree digital cameras inside the Camera Boom are stitched together withprecision, you’ll need to refine image alignment.

To refine image alignment:1 Select Alignment from the Hawkeye CAM menu.

2 If more than one Camera Boom is connected to your computer, theSelect a Board dialog box will appear. Click the button for the Boardyou want.
