Mater Dei College Scholarship Information

Mater Dei College, Edgewater, is a Catholic Co-educational Secondary College established in 1993 to serve communities in the northern suburbs.

The College offers a supportive and enriching educational environment for students in Years 7-12, based on the pillars of Faith, Community, Service and Learning. As well as the traditional core areas, the College offers an extensive curriculum, particularly in performing and creative arts, sports, design and digital technology and languages.

Mater Dei College is well resourced with contemporary facilities to enhance the emerging trends in education and to facilitate effective learning. With a strong focus on pastoral care, at Mater Dei College we continue always to strive for a culture of personal excellence based upon high expectations.

Mater Dei College has enjoyed an excellent reputation for quality Catholic secondary education forged on strong pastoral care and individual attention given to its students.

Mater Dei College holds a commitment to providing accessible quality education. The Scholarships are available to any prospective student covering half the tuition fees for one year and does not include any other specific purpose charges or levies. The Principal reserves the right to withdraw a Scholarship should the recipient underachieve or seriously breach College rules and regulations. Should the student leave the College prior to the conclusion of the full term of the Scholarship period, then the parents/guardians may be liable for the payment of all fees that may have been waived under the scholarship. A decision to charge these fees would be at the discretion of the Principal. The Scholarship will be reviewed on an annual basis of satisfactory progress.

PROCESS OF AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS• The Academy Director will interview and trial applicants. • The Academy Director will evaluate the student’s values and ethics. • The Academy Director makes recommendations to the Principal with the Principal making the final decision

SCHOLARSHIP TIME LINE• 1 March, 2019: Open date for scholarship registration• 9 April, 2019: Closing date for registrations• Trial date is Thursday 9 May (for current Year 6 students) and trials are held on the Mater Dei College oval. The Academy

Director will notify applicants of the trial times prior to trial date.• All applicants will be notified of the outcome of the application process by correspondence.

Please note:• Parents will be advised of the time, place and other relevant details of football trials. All applicants will be advised of the outcome.• Students who wish to apply for the AFL scholarship must include their playing history and Coach’s reference form with this

application• To be eligible for a scholarship into the Mater Dei College Hawks AFL Academy students must be enrolled or in the process of

enrolling at Mater Dei College.
