Distances travelled to Hayle Library

We have re-used the mapping exercise undertaken in 2010 as the number of borrowers

had remained virtually identical. A new mapping exercise would have some time and cost

implications and a timescale for its completion would depend on resources available from

another department.

Use of Public Computers

Hayle Library One Stop Shop provides access to 5 public use computers, a printer and free

public Wi-Fi for library members.

These community access computers include, but are by no means limited to, databases,

homework resources, audio-visual content and e-books, and digital reference services.

In 2013/14 there were 6,825 individual sessions booked on public computers in

Hayle Library One Stop Shop. The chart below summarises data for public computer use

Current staffing

Hayle Library One stop Shop is currently open for 25.5 hours per week with a total of 5

staff:

• 1 Senior Library and Information Assistant – responsible for the day-to-day

supervision of a team of Library/One Stop Shop staff. Engaging with community

stakeholders to ensure the service meets local needs.

• 4 Library and Information Assistants – working directly with customers, colleagues,

the community and volunteers. Under the direction of the Senior Library Assistant, they carry out all routine duties and support customers with their diverse library and

information needs.
