Low Ash GasEngine Oils
HDAX® 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40
Our premium, low ash, detergent/dispersant type gas engine oil with extended service
capabilities is recommended for lean burn and stoichiometric four-stroke engines
operating under high load and temperature conditions. Additionally, it’s recommended
for high-speed, four-stroke engines used in co-generation and engines fueled with
synthetic gas. HDAX 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40 provides oxidation and

• Rolls Royce
HDAX® 5200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40
HDAX 5200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40 is low ash detergent/dispersant gas engine
oil recommended for four-stroke and selected two-stroke stationary engines fueled by
natural or synthetic gas. It meets many catalyst compatibility requirements.
This oil delivers value through oxidation and nitration resistance, valve protection, wear
control and high temperature deposit protection as proven through field tests.
HDAX 5200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40 is approved for Waukesha gas engines that
burn pipeline quality gas; all MWM gas engines, and MAN gas and dual fuel engines, in
operation on natural gas; GE Jenbacher types 2, 3, 4 and 6 gas engines burning clean
natural gas (Class A); and GE Jenbacher type 6F gas engines for all gas types.
This oil is recommended for four-stroke gas fueled engines made by Caterpillar, Delaval
Enterprise, Dresser-Rand (Categories I, II, III), GE Jenbacher, MAN, MWM, Superior,
Wärtsilä, Waukesha and Worthington.
Field Test PerformanceIn an 8,138 hour field test in a Caterpillar 3516 TALE engine in gas compression
service, HDAX 7200 Low Ash Gas Engine Oil SAE 40 demonstrated advanced
wear protection, deposit limitation and valve recession control. Average oil drain
intervals were 2,580 hours with oil consumption averaging less than 5 litres
per day.
• Pistons accumulated very low
deposits (thrust side down).
• Valves show light deposits with no visible signs of recession.
• Clean undercrowns facilitated
oil cooling of the pistons.

Total Base NumberTBN is formulated into the finished lubricant to counteract the by-products of combustion/acids. Formulators aim for a relatively slower TBN depletion rate, which is a function of a balanced additive package, base oil quality and formulation experience.
OxidationChemical process whereby oxygen molecules combine with hydrocarbon molecules, accelerated by temperature, increasing molecule size and in turn viscosity, shortening oil life.
NitrationChemical process whereby heat, oxygen and Nitrogen Oxides (NO2) contribute to viscosity increase, change in pH and sludge formation. Slowing nitration improves oil life which is a function of additive package, base oil quality and formulation experience.

Coolant/ Antifreeze
HDAX® Prediluted 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate Free
HDAX Prediluted 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate Free is a heavy-duty, low silicate,
phosphate free ethylene glycol coolant designed for use in natural gas engines. It is
ready to use and fully formulated/precharged with an inhibitor package that helps
provide cooling system protection. The phosphate free formulation reduces hard
water scale in natural gas engines.
This product has a service life of 5,000 hours or 2.5 years and can be stored for eight
years. It helps protect wet sleeve cylinder liners and cooling system metals, and has an
antifoam package that helps reduce the occurrence of foam in the cooling system.
HDAX Prediluted 50/50 Coolant/Antifreeze Phosphate Free is suitable for use in Caterpillar,
White-Superior, Waukesha, Ajax and Cooper-Bessemer natural gas stationary engines
and it meets or exceeds ASTM D6210, D3306 and TMC RP 329. It is compatible with fully
formulated, phosphate free coolants, and should not be diluted by more than 25 percent
with other coolant formulations.
Understanding Value Drivers in Maintenance of Natural Gas Engines
For Typical Operations:
• Downtime directly impacts production
and revenue.
• Unscheduled downtime costs due to
engine failures are significant, due to
complexity involved with repairs.
• Lubrication preventative maintenance
tasks are difficult to manage in remote
locations.
• Due to size of engines, lock-out process
and remote locations, safety is often a
major concern for the mechanics.
• Engine overhaul costs are expensive –
extending time to overhaul by one year or
more is significant to lowering total cost
of ownership (TCO).
