Filter Element Change IntervalsTakingintoconsiderationthehighdirtandwaterretentioncapacity,thefilterchangeintervalscanbeindividuallydeterminedaccordingtothecontaminationandvolumeoftheoil.Withanormalmachineinstallationtherecommendedelementchangefrequencyis500operatinghours/30,000kmor6months(whichevercomesfirst).Wherethemachineoperatesinadverseconditionsthischangefrequencyshouldbereduced

to250operatinghours/15,000km.Regardlessofoperatingconditionsamaximumfilterchangeintervalof6monthsshouldbeobserved.

DisposalUsedfilterelementsshouldbedisposedofinaccordancewithlocalregulationsandaremadefromfullycombustiblematerials.

IMPORTANT NOTE-ADDITIVESInmodernlubricantsadditivesaredissolvedinthebaseoil.AdditivelevelswillthereforenotbereducedbytheCARDEVfilterelement.Byremovingcontaminantsthatcouldotherwiseactascatalysts,additiveandoillifeisextended.

Action of Filter ElementThefilterelementactsbyabsorbingwaterandadsorbingparticlesinacontinuousrecyclingprocess.Thelongcellulosefibresabsorbwater(bothfreeanddissolved)formedeitherthroughthecombustionprocessorbycondensation/contamination.Largeroilmoleculesareforcedtopassbetweenthetightwindingsoftheelement.

Byremovingupto99.9%watercontamination,

theproductionofacids(hydrolysis)isinhibited.Astheoilpassesthroughtheelement,minuteparticlesofcarbon,wearmetalsandsiliconareextractedfromtheoilbyadheringtothemanysurfacesofthefilter.

Bycontinuouslyremovingwaterandparticlecontaminationtheageingeffectofsuchcatalystsisminimised.ThisenablestheoillifetobeextendedwhilstmaintainingtheoilwithinthespecificationlaiddownbytheOEM.Oillifeextensionisdependentontheoperatingconditionsandmaintenanceprogrammeapplicabletothemachine.Werecommendregularoilanalysisduringextendeddrainintervals.TheCARDEVHDFC-Nhasa4micronabsoluterating(ISO16889,1999).Inuseparticlesof1micronorlessinsizeareremoved,achievingoilcleanlinesslevelswhichare“betterthannew”–aslowas13/11/8(ISO4406);NASClass2.

TheCARDEVHDFC-Nisadepthfilterelementmadeoflongfibrecellulose,withafulldiameterpolyesterprotectiondisc.Theelementcanbeusedonalloil-basedfluidssuchashydraulic,engine,gearboxoilsanddieselfuels.
