The California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators(CAAASA) along with other statewide educational organizations is pleased to present a professional development workshop institute for district superintendents, school board members and selected school district leadership. The institute will include expert presenters, opportunities to examine district and state data, sharing of best practices to improve academic achievement, and networking with colleagues.

Description:Want to know how to close the gap and improve learning outcomes for all children?Interested in increasing district revenue? You’re not alone! Focus on attendance, it matters! In this session, discover the most fundamental thing that governance team members, district and site staff, parents and community members can do to make a real difference in closing the achievement gap and increasing district revenue: Participants will gain a better understanding of attendance and the state’s accountability system, walk away with strategies to improve attendance and learn about free resources.
Objective:To provide school board members the essential elements of governing educationalequity to close the achievement gap: designing effective policies, defining administrative regulations and monitoring educational outcomes to support all students, and achieve effective parent engagement.

Each Institute has been uniquely designed to provide opportunities for California Superintendents and their leadership teams to address academic achievement and network with colleagues.
Superintendents are encouraged to participate along with one or more parent leaders from their districts.
