Hospitals/PhysiciansHospitals/Physicians

Even though the new law promised increased access and efficiency in health care it will actually prevent doctor-owned hospitals from adding more rooms and more beds

The new health care rules will single out such hospitals, making new physician-owned projects ineligible to receive payments for Medicare and Medicaid patients

Existing doctor-owned hospitals will be grandfathered in to get government funds for patients, but must seek permission from the Department of Health and Human Services to expand

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) is one of the many organizations suing to have the law declared unconstitutional

Cost: with the new health care law - More Americans will be covered, but costs are also going

up.- The overhaul will increase national health care spending by

$311 billion from 2010-2019, or nine-tenths of 1 percent. To put that in perspective, total health care spending during the decade is estimated to surpass $35 trillion.

Premiums:- Most working Americans get health insurance coverage

through their employer or their spouse’s employer. Premiums will largely stay the same

- Insurance companies will be required to spend 85% of your premium on medical care in small markets and 80% in large markets, rather than spend it on other things like marketing, bonuses, lobbying, and other administrative expenses.

Market: Consumers and Small Businesses can begin buying policies directly in 2014.
