Sleep Technician
Technology for Improving the Quality of SleepOne of the fastest growing fields in the health care area is the study of sleep and the treatment of sleep disorders. Increased awareness of the impact of a sleep disorder on the health of patients has intensified the need to train specialized technicians to perform sleep studies.
To advance your sleep career there are two pathways to become a registered technologist —The American Board of Sleep Medicine or Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists—both pathways require the A STEP introductory course. Prerequisite of a certification in a health care career is required.
A STEP Introductory Certificate CourseThis innovative course prepares you to set up, monitor, collect and analyze the physio-logical data needed to perform a sleep study. At the end of the 80 hours of training, you will be able to sit for the A STEP final examination. This A-Step course is approved and accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
