Exciting opportunities exist for experienced Registered Nurses and Midwives with a focus
and commitment to Primary Health Care while working in Central Australia in the diverse
and challenging fi eld of Remote Area Nursing. We are seeking motivated, professional
nurses from a variety of backgrounds to join some of our 28 community based
health centre teams.
This is a new and exciting era in remote health and we are committed to ensuring
our staff work in a highly supportive environment where ongoing education is highly
valued. As a Primary Health Care Nurse you will be working closely with experienced
Aboriginal Health Workers, Aboriginal Community Workers and a variety of other Health
professionals in this unique, beautiful and challenging environment.
The Health Centre teams range in size from 2 to 5 team members, using a collaborative
approach to deliver health services which refl ect:
• Child, Maternal and Women’s Health
• Men’s Health
• Acute Care Management
• Chronic Disease Management
• Health Program development
• An integrated Primary Health Care context of educational, promotional and
preventative activities
An induction program will be available on commencement of employment and includes
access to Professional Development opportunities relevant to remote area practice. Nurses
signing contracts for 2 years or more will be offered the opportunity to obtain a Graduate
Certifi cate in Remote Health Practice if they wish.
Applicants must have a genuine interest in Indigenous Health with a focus on Primary
Health Care and must be highly motivated, mature, fl exible and adaptable, and able and
willing to work closely with Aboriginal staff in the remote health setting.
