Pre-Med American Medical Student Association (Pre-Med AMSA)
UCD Pre-med AMSA seeks to expose pre-medical students to the field of medicine by providing
them with different opportunities in which they can learn what it is that makes them passionate
about medicine and where they can develop a sincere appreciation for the practice and art of
medicine. Pre-med AMSA also aims to explore the field of medicine by creating connections
between pre-medical students and medical students and those who hold a medical position.

Pre-Med Student Osteopathic Medical Association (Pre-Med SOMA)
Pre-med SOMA seeks to promote osteopathy and inform the public about osteopathic medical
education as well as to increase the number of applicants to osteopathic medical schools and

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)
HOSA is a national organization that serves a community of students aspiring to advance to the
health professions. Members of the program benefit from gaining exposure, experience, and
hands-on technical training in specific fields within healthcare and have the opportunity to
compete in an annual State Leadership Conference (SLC) to win awards and recognition for
mastery of these skills. The chapter also targets underrepresented communities such as first-
generation college students who come from low-income backgrounds.

Pre-Nursing
Nursing Club at UC Davis
The Nursing Club at UC Davis serves to educate those who are interested in pursuing nursing
careers beyond their UC Davis education. Many members are interested in A.B.S.N's, Master's
entry programs, NP programs, and much more. Meetings consist of presenting information on
different nursing degrees, careers, and guest speakers.

Davis Pre-Dental Society (PDS)
PDS is motivated to provide a positive environment for UC Davis students who are interested
in dentistry with activities ranging from general meetings with informative presentations, to
fun social events like bowling and ice-cream socials.

Spreading Smiles
Spreading Smiles is a non-profit organization mostly consisting of UC Davis students who are
dedicated to improving the health and thus the quality of life of both local and global
communities. The organization’s goal is to provide the opportunity for students in the health
profession to experience the struggles of people in a third-world country and make a difference
in their lives through education and service. Making annual trips to Costa Rica, members travel
to churches, schools, and remote villages educating locals on proper hygiene techniques and
why it is important for one's overall health.

Pre-Occupational Therapy
Pre-Occupational Therapy Club
The Pre-Occupational Therapy Club is available to all UC Davis undergraduate students with
an interest in pursuing a graduate degree and/or a career in occupational therapy. The Pre-OT
Club prepares students for future graduate school and careers by offering them a social,
academic, and volunteer outlet related to the occupational therapy field. Club activities include
visits to various OT practice sites (hospitals, private practices ect.), tours of OT grad schools,
presentations by OT practitioners and much more.

Pre-Optometry
Foresight Pre-Optometry Club
Pre-Optometry club aims at providing academic and social support services for students who
are interested in learning more about the profession of optometry. By participating in various
activities throughout the year such as visiting optometry schools, meeting with optometry
school recruiters, and performing optometry-related community services, students will have a
better understanding and preparation of what the profession and the path in applying to
optometry school entails.

Pre-Pharmacy Club’s mission is to expose members to all aspects of pharmacy as a career, to

Pre-Physical Therapy
Davis Pre-Physical Therapy Club
The club’s objective is to provide a community where students can find support, opportunities,
and advising as they pursue their future in physical therapy. The Davis Pre-Physical Therapy
Club intends to accomplish this objective by providing educational support through academic
advising from peers and faculty, opportunities to connect with respected Physical Therapists
through club meetings and school tours, and a chance for pre-physical therapy students at UC
Davis to establish a strong diverse community to help one another attain their personal goals.

Pre-Physician Assistant Club
The Pre-Physician Assistant Club is available to all UC Davis students who have an interest in

Minority Associations in Health
Chicanos in Health Education
Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education at UC Davis seeks to increase the number of
Chicano/Latino students interested in pursuing careers in the health field. CHE continues this
tradition by encouraging underrepresented students to pursue a graduate level education while
also giving back to underserved communities.

Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (M.A.P.S.)
M.A.P.S. is an organization designed to help minority pre-medical students matriculate into
health professional schools. M.A.P.S. is committed to supporting future under-represented
minority health students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the
number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians.

Hmong in Health (HIH)
HIH is a student organization that promotes Hmong students to a career in health through pre-
health conferences, workshops, and interactions with health professionals. The organization
strives to develop an awareness of Hmong medicine and culture among UCD students and the
local community. Most importantly, HIH establishes a network among Hmong pre-health
students at UCD to provide academic support for students.

Filipino Association for Health Careers (FAHC)
FAHC is a support and awareness organization with the purpose to provide personal, social and
academic support to students interested in pursuing a health-related career while also
promoting Filipino related health issues and cultural awareness to the community. FAHC
strives to provide an atmosphere in which members can experience personal growth, utilize
resources to achieve their goals, and to promote feelings of friendship and camaraderie.

Dr. Interns
Dr. Interns believe that the best way to create lasting change in the healthcare community of
the developing world is through proactive altruism. It is their mission to help improve under-
served regions of the global healthcare community by facilitating a Healthcare and Cultural
Immersion Program for future leaders of the field.

Global Medical Brigades
Medical Brigades at UC Davis is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led
global health and sustainable development organization. The UCD chapter systematically
works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement
one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian
community members annually. Global Medical Brigades develops sustainable health initiatives
and provides relief where there is limited access to healthcare.

MEDLIFE
MEDLIFE is an organization that partners with low-income communities in Latin America to
improve their access to medicine, education, and community development initiatives. MEDLIFE

Volunteers Around the World (VAW)
VAW is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) devoted to improving the standard of
living for those that live in some of the most poverty stricken communities of Guatemala.
VAW’s focus is to enhance community infrastructure through improved education, access to
more advanced medical treatment, increased economic opportunities, and other community
based initiatives.

Food and Nutrition
Fitness and Self-Development Club
The goal of this club is to help members become the strongest version of themselves both
physically and mentally. The club consists of teaching new members about health, fitness, and
nutrition as well as discussing important self-development principles such as generating long-
term happiness, time management, building strong relationships with other people, and
understanding the overarching principles of success.

Food Recovery Network
The Food Recovery Network at UC Davis is a chapter of the nation-wide Food Recovery Network, and is made up of UC Davis students who want to help feed the community and reduce food waste. Members of this club deliver food from vendors to places that feed the local community and help spread awareness about food waste and hunger.

Recognizing Illnesses Very Early & Responding (R.I.V.E.R.)
A preventive health advocacy group, R.I.V.E.R. from the University of California, Davis focuses
on the public health aspect of medicine, specifically when it comes to the prevention of disease.
R.I.V.E.R.’s goal is to bridge the gap between preventive care and medical treatment for
communities in the greater Sacramento area.

Student Nutrition Association (SNA)
SNA strives to be an active part of the Davis and Sacramento communities through
volunteerism. SNA visits local schools, participates in UC Davis' Picnic Day, and teams up with
other organizations such as Davis Community Meals and the Davis Farm to School Connection
to teach nutrition and health education. SNA is also active in the UC Davis Campus Community
and promotes healthy eating habits in the DC and at the ARC.

The mission of Bayanihan Clinic is provide primary care and preventative health services to the

Clínica Tepati sets out to address the healthcare gap in the Latino community of the greater

Imani Clinic
Imani Clinic prides itself as being one of the few bona fide student-run clinics in the nation.
Undergraduates from the working backbone of Imani and have much to gain from volunteering.
In addition to being a worthwhile hands-on clinical experience for students interested in the
healthcare field, Imani Clinic is an invaluable opportunity for undergraduates to directly
participate in the delivery of episodic primary care to the underserved and multicultural
population of Oak Park.

Joan Viteri Memorial Clinic (JVMC)
JVMC is a student-run clinic that targets intravenous drug users and sex workers in
Sacramento. The clinic, run out of Harm Reduction Services of Sacramento, is outfitted with
eight patient examination rooms and a dispensary. Since most of the patients seen at JVMC do
not have health insurance, their high risk behavior often lands them in local emergency rooms.
JVMC acts as an intervention service, reaching out to patients before their conditions drain
limited ER resources, pose a public health hazard, or become fatal to the patient.

Knights Landing Clinic
Knights Landing Clinic aims to provide linguistically competent and culturally sensitive
healthcare services to the rural underserved in the Knights Landing area. The clinic seeks to fill
the gap in primary care services and health education, with particular emphasis on women,
adolescents, and farmworkers. Their goal is to provide community-centered care by maintaining
a high level of community engagement and empowerment, and by continuing to collaborate
with other organizations.

Paul Hom Asian Clinic
The success of Paul Hom Asian Clinic is a result of integration of patient advocates, medical
students, and physicians. The primary objectives are to provide free primary care services to the
medically uninsured, to provide an opportunity for medical students and undergraduate patient
advocates to gain experience in community medicine and to provide translation services in a
clinical setting for Asian immigrants.

Shifa Clinic
Shifa Clinic is a non-profit, student-run medical facility dedicated to serving the diverse,
medically uninsured population of the greater Sacramento area. Every Sunday, the clinic
provides basic as well as specialized medical services free of charge to patients of many
ethnicities and backgrounds. In addition, as a teaching center for medical students and
undergraduate volunteers, Shifa Clinic takes an active role in shaping the physicians of the

The purpose of VN CARES is to promote cancer awareness, knowledge, and preventative care

American Red Cross Club at UC Davis
The American Red Cross Association at UC Davis is a health care based community service
group that works with the Yolo County Red Cross Chapter. The club performs various
volunteer activities specializing in disaster preparedness, CPR First Aid training, and other

Undergraduate Students for One Health
The Undergraduate Students for One Health is an organization created to involve
undergraduate students pursuing in careers in human medicine, veterinary medicine, plant
health and environmental health. With active education and service at UC Davis and to the local
community using a One Health approach, USOH strives to provide outreach experience about
One Health through committees, an educational outreach project to local schools, volunteer
opportunities of different health clinics, and talks of multidisciplinary speakers to pre-medical,
pre-veterinary, pre-dental and environmental health students.

Aggie Heart Association
Aggie Heart Association aims to raise heart health awareness in the Davis community through

The Autism Awareness Association strives to promote advocacy and involvement among the

The Bhagat Puran Singh Health Initiative strives to eliminate health and social disparities

Colleges Against Cancer/Relay for Life
Colleges Against Cancer is the daughter organization of the American Cancer Society and is
designed to help eliminate cancer by initiating and supporting the programs of the ACS on
college campuses. The organization is designed to allow students and staff to work through
many different channels-advocacy, cancer education, Relay for Life, and survivorship- to
eliminate cancer.

Diabetes Advocacy and Awareness (DAAG)
The Diabetes Advocacy and Awareness Group consists of UC Davis students united in combating diabetes, which is one of the fastest growing diseases around the world. Members take an active role in spreading knowledge and awareness of the global epidemic, fundraising for research and relief programs, educating youth and fostering healthy lifestyles, service under-resourced populations in need of proper care, and working to lower diabetes incidence and ultimately finding a cure.

One Campus Health Coalition
The One Campus Health Coalition (OCHC) at UC Davis is founded based on the universal
recognition that health is interconnected within all aspects of student life and the innumerable
importance of health bodies and organizations coming together as a collective on one shared
mission that embodies the university’s mission statement: service to our communities and to our
society. The coalition collectively works on the creation of health resources compiled by and for
students, creates forums on prevalent health and wellness issues and concerns affecting the
student population, increases communication between health related organizations on campus,
and orchestrates an annual H.E.A.L.T.H. Colloquium.

Team HBV
Team HBV at UCD is one of many collegiate chapters affiliated with the Asian Liver Center at
Stanford. Team HBV currently works to further the Jade Ribbon Campaign in an effort to raise
