On the first day you should be given an induction – introduction to health and safety and expectations

Tell your employer/supervisor of any medical conditions and treatment/medication

Give your employer details of parents/guardians emergency contact

Depending on your placement, you will be presented with a set of unique challenges regarding health and safety

Your supervisor will give you any training needed to carry out your placement safely

YOU need to be aware of the risks!

Your Responsibility By law, you must not interfere with, or

misuse, anything provided for safety Learn how to work safely and obey safety

rules Use all equipment and protective gear

provided Report things that look dangerous, damaged

or faulty Only use equipment or machinery that you

have had the appropriate training to use

tends to be small events or incidents• Harassment may consist of one or a few more

serious events or incidents.• The creation of hostile, unwanted or offensive

environments• Sometimes related to race, gender, age or

sexuality

Personal Safety Be Aware - Trust your intuition and try not to be

influenced by peer pressure

Be Alert - If you are going out, find out how to get to your destination and tell someone where you are going and what time to expect your return

Plan Ahead – what will you do if you run late, you are unsure of your task or you have a problem or difficulty?

Always Report Incidents - it may help others in the future. Tell someone in charge.
