What is Goal Setting?

The process of working toward something you want to accomplish

TWO THINGS TO CONSIDER:

(1) Is your goal a short term goal or a long term goal ?

(2) Make sure yourgoal is realistic and reachable.

EIGHT STEPS TO FOLLOW:

STEP 1:

Write your goal down.

* Put your written

goal someplace

where you will see

it often.

STEP 2: Make a plan .

* List steps you need to follow to meet your goal.

* Breaking your big goal into small steps can make it easier to meet your goal.

STEP 3:

Set a time line.

S = Specific

M = Measurable

A = Achievable

R = Realistic

T = Timely

S = Specific

• Goal is detailed,

particular, or focused

• You know exactly what

you want to accomplish

• Easy to understand

M = Measurable

• Goal you can see, observe, count, quantify

• There is evidence you met goal

• Consider the words (language) you use

A = Achievable • Goal is self-maintained• Mostly up to you to meet
