    HEAT SHRINKABLE COMPOUNDPRODUCT SPECIFICATION SHEET

M.G.POLYBLENDS is pioneer in developing heat shrinkable, heat curable moulding compoundsbased on polyolefin material containing some specialty chemicals and mould release additives.

Curing material( Peroxide particularly dicumyl peroxide) has not been included in this product( HSC-T-384) and hence it does not loses its processing as well as electrical properties during

storage. That means it can be stored for any period of time. Users have to incorporate peroxide

during sheeting of the material on a Two Roll Mill or mix in a mixer prior to use in injection

moulding. It offers excellent weathering and other electrical properties required in cable jointing

    applications.

This compound offers antitracking properties in the moulded product. Outstanding properties of

this compound makes an excellent choice for the moulding of heat shrinkable Rain Sheds, Cable

Breakout Boots and End Caps. The other grades of this antitrackng compound are used to

manufacture Heat shrink tubing / Heat shrink tube/heat shrink sleeves for the cable industry.

    TECHNICAL DATA

    PRODUCT CODE: HSC-T- 384

S.No PROPERTIES TEST STANDARD VALUES1. APPEARANCE --- PLASTIC GRANULES

    OF 2-3 MM SIZE

    2. CARRIER RESIN --- POLYOLEFIN3. COLOUR --- RED/BLACK

    4. SPECIFIC GRAVITY ASTM D-792 1.23

    5. MOISTURE CONTENT ASTM D-570 Less than 0.2%

    6. MFI (190 0 C, 2.16 KG ) ASTM D- 1238 3.6

    7. Bulk density - 0.708 gm/ml

    RECOMMENDED PROCESSING CONDITIONS:

    FOR COMPRESSION MOULDING

    1. Sheeting on Two Roll Mill:

Compound has to be milled on a two roll mill ( For better mixing and proper rolling of the

compound, rolls of the two roll mill should be at 85-900 C). Once the Proper band is formed , add

approx 0.6% of dicumyl peroxide (purity level 98-99%) on the material and mix again properly

till homogeneously mixed roll sheet is formed.

    2. Compression/ Press Moulding:

    Mould Temperature : 170-1750 C

    Crosslinking/Curing Time: 8-10 Minutes

    3. Shrink Property of the Moulded Product:

    Shrink Temperature: 100-1200 C

    Shrink Ratio : 3:1

    FOR INJECTION MOULDING

    1. Mix 0.6% ( Purity level 98-99%) dicumyl peroxide with this compound ( preferably

slightly heated) in a ribbon or similar type of blender. Then these granules can be directlyput into the injection moulding machine with heated moulds to make heat shrinkable end

caps, breakout boots and rain sheds.

    RECOMMENDED PROCESSING CONDITIONS:

    1. Barrel Temperature: 100-120 deg C

    2. Mould Temperature: 170-175 deg C for 10 minutes

    3. Shrink Property of the Moulded Product:

    Shrink Temperature: 100-1200 C

    Shrink Ratio : 3:1

PACKAGING : Material is packed in HDPE woven sacks of 25 Kgs.
