Heaven Paradise
Prelude
Opening Song - “Your First Day In Heaven”
Welcome
Prayer
Song - “Holy, Holy, Holy”
*Invocation
We meet in the strong name of our God, We praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
*Litany
O Lord, like Eve and Adam in the garden, We are mesmerized by things which glisten and shine.
How easily we become shallow, superficial, and greedy; We chase mirages which cannot satisfy;
We ignore You, the Source of Living Water. Forgive us, Lord, and restore our minds and hearts to live as children of Light.
Lift us up where we belong. Lift our vision to see Jesus, the Lord of life.
Give us the courage and the strength to follow Christ always, We cast our crowns before you and sing your praise!
For through your cross and resurrection; You have opened the way to paradise and to the glories of the
Kingdom of God. Amen.
*Prayer of the Day Jesus, remember us when you come into your kingdom. It is easy for us
to forget that this world is not our permanent home. We are just passing
through. As you promised the thief on the cross, take us to paradise to reign
with you. As believers in Jesus, our citizenship is in heaven. Help us not to
become attached to the things of this world, so that we lose sight of Jesus.
Fill us with the hope of heaven, and a life in paradise with You.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lesson - Revelation 1:4-8 4 John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and
from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful
witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6 and has made us to
be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father - to him be glory and power for
ever and ever! Amen. 7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see
him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of
him.” So shall it be! Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God,
“who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Gospel - Luke 23:33-43 33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with
the criminals - one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them,
for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting
lots. 35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He
saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” 36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar 37 and
said, “If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.” 38 There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah?
Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are
under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our
deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Sermon Text - Revelation 21:1-7 1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth
had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new
Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully
dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look!
God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will
be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe
every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said,
“Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Pastor’s Ponderings . . .
1. What makes paradise “paradise?” What does it have to do with the
Garden of Eden?
2. What elements of this life will no longer exist in paradise?
3. How did the cross of Jesus and His resurrection make all things new?
4. What do you think of when you hear the name of God, “the Alpha and
the Omega?”
5. How does the believer’s hope of heaven change life in this world?
6. What do you look forward to the most in heaven?
7. When you think of seeing Jesus, how do you image Him?

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the
End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my
children.
