Helen Nimmo's Album provides a glimpse into the life of a teenager from Brooklyn, New York during the 1910s. There are 129 photographs taken between 1910 - 1918. Many of the photos were taken at the beach. One of the beaches Helen frequented was Long Beach in Nassau County, New York. The album concludes with photographs of Helen's brothers and several friends in military uniforms. World War I had begun.TRANSCRIPT

HELEN NIMMO’S ALBUM
On November 13, 1898, Helen was born in Peekskill, New York.
Most of her remaining years were spent in Brooklyn, New York.
Helen was the youngest of four children: Catherine Dorothea
(Dot), Andrew, Robert, and finally, Helen. Helen’s parents died
when she was a teenager. Dot and Andy kept the family together.
This album includes 129 pictures taken by Helen or her friends
or family when Helen was a teenager.
