Seeing no solution in sight, Helen stopped the mediation for the day and hoped to continue it the following day.

Brian, on the other hand, felt it was going to be useless no matter what.Proposed solutionChange the mediation methodHelen could ask both Brian and Steve to write their complaints about each other. This method allows them to keep a calm head while reading the complaints. Then, both are asked to give comments on every complaint given by the other party. They are asked to give complaints and comments as honestly as possible.After that step, when the situation is feasible, Helen could sit the two down again together.
