CAP 1145 20 Feb 2014:
With effect from 1 April 2015, helicopter operators are to ensure that only passengers with a body size (including all required safety and survival equipment) commensurate with push-out window exit size are carried on offshore helicopter flights.
With effect from 1 April 2016, helicopter operators are to ensure that for all offshore helicopter operations all occupants (passengers and crew) wear EBS that meets the CAP 1034 Category ‘A’ performance specification.

Current Situation

January 2017 after the trials HSE had a further meeting with training providers and Oil & Gas UK in
5th April 2017 HSE signed an exemption to the Diving at Work Regulations allowing shallow water training if the trainee has:
– A current, unrestricted, OGUK medical certificate of fitness for offshore work
– Self declaration at time of training no medical condition making them unfit to participate
Industry training standard being revised to account for exemption requirements
