Heliex AirComp
Any process that generates steam and requires compressed air will benefit from the Heliex AirComp.Using the same technology as our original HP GenSet, this application generates high efficiency compressed air more economically than the traditional electrical generator by utilising onsite process steam.
The Heliex AirComp is a unique air compressor. It combines the benefits of Heliex’s steam screw expander technology with standard industrial air compressor technology, creating an efficient plug and play package.
A complete range of compressed air pressures and flow-rates can be generated by using pressure drops in saturated steam industrial distribution networks.
Integrated alongside the steam pressure reduction valve, the Heliex AirComp reduces all, or part, of the available steam flow to drive a Heliex expander and generate a low cost supply of compressed air.
Example :The Heliex AirComp uses a Heliex steam expander system to drive high-efficiency air compressors.
This is up to 18% more efficient than using an electrical motor and can provide saving in excess of £80,000 per year for a standard 100kW air compressor.
Harnessing your steam to create low cost compressed air.

Air Side: Oil flooded twin screw air compressors
Steam Input:
The Technology:
The Heliex AirComp is a twin screw steam expander, directly coupled with a screw compressor.
The shaft power delivered by the expander is passed to the compressor with almost no losses.
There’s no motor and so no electrical efficiency is involved, resulting in a robust, simple and cost effective way of generating compressed air.
Advantages of using rotary steam screw expanders to run the air compressor are:
• Low cost compressed air
• Compact size
• Able to use wet steam without any erosion
• Robust
• Low maintenance
• No need for timing gears or other costly components
• ‘Plug and Play’ package
