Morgan Family Newsletter
Our space for all things past, present and future.
Issue 1, 20 Nov 2015
Hello Morgans! The Family Reunion organized by Larry in August has generated quite the buzz which we are all still enjoying! Thanks to his herculean efforts, we are all still talking and sharing info. We have so much to share, and hopefully this will help the cause.
So, welcome to the inaugural issue of the Morgan Family Newsletter, the brainchild of Gene Morgan. I have great hopes for this project, but it can’t happen without everyone’s input.
The goal is for people to send me new info by the 5th of each month, and then I’ll send out the newsletter on the 20th of each month. Please send me anything, from the past, present or future, to [email protected].
Everything is welcome, and I welcome any feedback.
Happy Reading – Alana Morgan
We know that this is William H Morgan Sr and Mary “Minnie” Cecilia Connor with Gladys Morgan Fagan, Frank Morgan (the younger)…and
possibly Caroline or Brian Fagan. Anyone know when or where?

Thanks to Chris Morgan for sharing this story about Phil and Don Morgan:
“Phil Morgan (L) and twin brother Donald Morgan, were the youngest of William and Mary’s eight children. They enlisted in the Navy at age 17. (Grandfather Morgan wouldn’t drive them to the Albany Train Station so they had to take
the bus. I can’t even imagine sending my babies off to war at 17.) Anyway, they got to serve on the same ship in the Pacific Theater ONLY because they were identical twins. All other brothers would be separated due to a government decision, following the loss of Mrs. Sullivan’s 5 sons that were all on the same ship together. Phil and Don were the exception to the new
rule and got to serve together because it was decided that identical twins were really considered as one and should not be separated.

Happy 6th Birthday, Jake!
On 27 October Jake Sartin celebrated his sixth birthday in Texas with Mom Shea, Dad Zac and grandparents Gene and Carol. Here he is on his shiny new bike!
Congratulations, Patrick and Jen!
On 31 October, Patrick Morgan Rofoli and Jennifer Mason tied the knot!
Pictures please, Noel and Mary!
A Mini Reunion!
Patrick Morgan Rofoli and Joulles Wright, both working in the film industry, were recently visited by Mary, Noel and Elizabeth Rofoli on the set of the movie “Bastards”, currently being filmed in Atlanta, GA.
Job Done!
After 5 months of negotiations and trips back and forth between Singapore and Melbourne, Alana finally got to see Cirque’s Big Top Show TOTEM open in Singapore – the first visit for Cirque du Soleil in Singapore in over a decade.
It was Alana’s responsibility to get all of the engineering and
permitting approvals for the installation.
What would you like to see featured in this section next month? It’s up to you, I’ll share what you send!
Recent Morgan Events
Recent emails have brought to light just how talented we are as a family. Here’s some recent info shared by Constance Morgan:
“Amelia is in the Sage choir and two times a year Sage, RPI and the Troy Adult Choir come together to put on Holiday and Spring concerts at the Troy Music Hall and St. Augustine’s Church. Amelia was the star soprano at the Christmas concert. She was amazing. It is very well done!
Joulles has an amazing voice and was in several major youth concerts at the NYS Conference center. She was also a solo soprano.
Our cousin Janice is also in the adult choir.
William plays in a small community orcherstra and has two concerts a year also.
Cousin Cathy is in our Town band here in Guilderland and plays in the park in the summer.
We are a musical family!”
There are many more musicians in the bunch – Larry plays piano,; Alana sang in and arranged music for the Singing Sinners at St. Lawrence University; Kari was involved in choirs and dance all through school…what other talents are out there?
We are a talented bunch!

Spotlight: Minnie Connor
Mary “Minnie” Cecilia Connor, wife of William Henry Morgan, Sr, was the daughter of Andrew Mark Connor and Anna Josephine Weiner. There is a lot of debate about whether her maiden name was Connor, Connors, or O’Connor, and to be honest, the records don’t help much as they give us every variation. Mary was born 5 Oct 1884 in NY.
Her paternal grandparents were Patrick Connor and Bridget Mahon, both born in Ireland.
Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Weiner and Hannah Levin. Joseph was born in Bavaria and emigrated to the US in 1860. Hannah Levin was born in Ireland and came to the USA with her parents Dennis and Hannah Levin sometime during the early to mid-1800s.
Spotlight: Johanna Fogarty
Johanna Fogarty, wife of James Patrick Morgan, was the daughter of Timothy Fogarty and Jane Carney. She was born 11 April 1874 in Schaghticoke, NY.
Her father Timothy Fogarty was born in 1858 in Tipperary Co. Ireland.
Her paternal grandmother was Johanna.
Her maternal grandparents were Edmund Carney and Alice Myers.

Morgan. They emigrated to the USA in 1850 from Ardee, Co.
Louth, Ireland ostensibly due to the severe impacts of the Great
Hunger.

Let’s keep this rolling!
This newsletter is an offshoot of the herculean efforts of Larry Morgan to make the 2015 Morgan Reunion happen. So many conversations have been ongoing since August that Gene Morgan brought up the idea of a Morgan Newsletter, and this was the first issue. Please help keep it going by continuing to share all
news, great and small!
