HELLO PEOPLE OF MALTA! 1. GEOGRAFICAL LOCATION: Malta is a very interesting Archipelago, located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, between the southern Coast of Sicily and the northern part of Tunisia. This Archipelago consists of six islands: three inhabited (Malta, Gozo and Comino) and three uninhabited islands (Fifla, Cominotto and St. Paul) which make up the 316 square kilometers of this small country. 2. PEOPLES: Malta is one of the most densely populated countries in the world and the first one in Europe. Its 400.000 inhabitants of Malta Island are mostly the Maltese, divided in 5 districts. There are also British residents (especially aged retired people) who came here because of the exceptional climate and low prices. The Maltese are rather small people, well builds, with a dark complexion. They are friendly and kind. Most of them (94%) live in urban environment where the hospitality field is very developed. They are also fishermen and sellers. 3. FOOD: In Malta we can enjoy a Mediterranean cuisine with a splash of Sicilian and North African influences. The most famous dishes are: Patizzi – a pastry filled with cheese or vegetables; Lampuki – a pie made with the local dorado fish and vegetables; Aljotta – a famous fish soup with tomatoes, garlic and rice; Maltese bread - is known as something of an institution in itself; it is renowned for being crisp and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. 4. VILLAGES, CITIES, CULTURE: There are many small cities with small chapels and a vast amount of cathedrals, museums, galleries and public gardens, bordered with fortification
