BMDH PROJECT WEEKLY UPDATE
BRAG BOOK
Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Project | No. 332 | 30 August 2019
It’s been a week of new beginnings, and some endings,
at Blacktown Hospital as staff waved goodbye to their
old facilities and headed off the their brand new units
in our new Building A.
Perioperative Services went live bright and early
Monday morning, then Birthing moved to the new unit
on level 6. Newborn Care followed straight after, with a
convoy of cots, parents, midwives and support staff
safely transferring 13 bubbas to the new unit. Our first
mums started arriving in Maternity Assessment Centre
mid-morning, and then it was the main event - a baby
boy born at 12.07pm to proud parents Sheela and
Bhawan (more on The Pulse).
On Wednesday we backed up for another big day with
Maternity and Women’s Health both relocated to their
purpose-built facilities.
Thank you to everyone, especially our project team,
General Services, IT, support and department staff for
your tireless effort!
Front page

Bhuwan and Sheela with a gift basket to
celebrate the birth of their baby boy.

Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Expansion Project | No. 332 | 30 August 2019
Goodbye gals
It’s farewell to two of our favourite
project ladies this week as Rhonda
and Kaye move back to their
substantive roles.
Rhonda is taking a well-earned
holiday after commissioning our
new Perioperative Services, and
she’ll be back to her role at Mount
Druitt when she returns.
Kaye has been our resident nurse
educator for the last year,
navigating thousands of staff
members through their orientation
and training. Kaye is having a short
break before returning to her role
in Critical Care.
Farewell morning tea,
with pink cake!
Seven-year switch
After 331 updates, tonnes of cake,
2000 tweets, countless events, 560
Instagram posts, 45000 photos of
the hospital, and a million or so
Facebook posts (give or take)
project comms manager Lilly is
leaving the project after seven
years of painting everything pink!
She will be taking up a role with
another infrastructure project
because her dad concreted
everything when she was growing
up and she never got over it.
She will always have a pink streak,
even if it’s on the inside.
