Marketing

Marketing is a fast-paced, exciting and creative

place to work. We help to ‘serve Britain’s

shoppers a little better every day’ by truly

understanding our customers, so we can make

positive differences to their lives. We create iconic

brands and bring them to life. We help to have the

right conversations, in the right place and at the

right time and lead all campaigns across the year

– from Valentine’s Day to Christmas.

We sit at the very heart of the business, part of the

wider Customer team leading many of Tesco’s

biggest projects. These include many recent

launches you may have seen in your local store.

We work with some of the biggest and most

exciting agencies in the UK to create inspiring and

innovative marketing campaigns for customers,

including the adverts you see on TV and in the

press.

Functions within Marketing include: Customer

Insight, Tesco Brand Teams, Campaigns, Brand

Design and Digital Marketing.

New Business Development New Business Development will create value for customers, colleagues and Tesco through the use of new technologies and by rapidly delivering new propositions.

Functions within New Business Development include Proposition Development.

Food & Commodities

It’s where we began and it remains the most

important part of what we offer customers every

day. Within Food, our team aims to serve

Britain’s shoppers a little better every day by

making great quality food accessible to

customers. We cover everything from working

with local producers through to global sourcing.

Every day offers a different challenge as we

focus on our shared passion of offering fantastic

quality, innovation and value for money.

Commercial Strategy &

Operations

Commercial Strategy & Operations provides the

strategy, insight, training, processes and

systems to allow our buying teams to deliver the

right product at the right price.

Functions within Commercial Strategy &

Operations include: Process & Systems

Development, Operations, Commercial Strategy

& Pricing and Space, Range & Display.

General Merchandise

In General Merchandise, we work as one team

to bring great products to our customers across

five different markets in Europe.

We cover a range of products, which appeal to

many different customers – from the latest

“craze” toy, to funky tableware to eco-friendly

light bulbs!

We need to know our customers and understand

what they love, which is why we work hard to

develop our ranges, working on own brands and

with some of the most recognised global brands

to get what’s right for our new and loyal

customers.

Functions within General Merchandise include:

Buying, Merchandising, Central Merchandising,

Online and Marketplace.

Quality

This team is passionate about serving

shoppers with great products, sourced with

care. Involved in all stages of a product’s

lifecycle, our team of experts across the world

are involved in the creative development,

sourcing, production and handling of each

Tesco brand product. We work with suppliers

we trust to source responsibly, holding the

trust of our customers at the heart of

everything we do.

Product Development, Quality Standards

F&F

F&F aims to be Britain’s leading affordable

fashion retailer — and our ambition doesn’t

end there.

F&F is a truly global brand, sold in 2,100

stores across 26 countries. With our size and

scale we are able to use insight from

customers to offer fashionable ranges at

amazing prices and with great quality at

the heart.

Functions within F&F include: Buying &

Merchandising, Marketing, Operations &

Franchise, Design, Online & Product Quality.

Stock Management

& Supply Chain

The Supply Chain Team is a global operation

responsible for getting hundreds of millions of

products from farms and factories to our

millions of customers each and every day.

The demands on Tesco’s supply chain have

never been greater. Our customers want more

flexibility in the way they shop and demand an

ever-growing range of products.

Functions within Stock Management & Supply

Chain include: Supply Chain Operations,

Transformation & Internal consulting, Inbound

logistics &

Wholesale Operations.

Product

Online

The Online channel team’s role is to grow and

develop a seamless online experience for our

customers, aligned with the overall Tesco

brand. The team stretches across the Grocery,

Tesco Direct and F&F websites, with the ability

to improve the online shopping trip for millions

of customers.

Functions within Online include: Strategy &

Proposition, Programme Management,

Product Management, Analytics, User

Experience, International Grocery operations

and Marketplace Account Management.

Stores

From convenience to large format stores both within

the UK and internationally, stores are what Tesco is

famous for. Regardless of where you are, our stores

have a number of things in common, including range

of products, quality and our passion to deliver great

customer service.

The type of roles within Stores include: Store

Operations, People, Finance, Retail Directors. .

Customer Fulfilment

The Customer Fulfilment team is responsible

for every part of the operation, from when the

customer clicks to confirm their order to the

point we are handing it to them at the door or

store. Be it the layout of buildings, the

methods we use, the way we meet customers

in their homes or answering customers' queries.

Functions within Customer Fulfilment include:

Process Improvement, Store Operations,

Customer Engagement Centres, Specialist

Our Distribution teams make sure our products

With over 750 stores in England, Scotland and

Wales and open seven days a week, One Stop is a

leading UK convenience market with a focus on

being the best store for customers in the

neighbourhood.

Northern Ireland –

Support Office

A local office which is primarily focused on

the uniqueness of Northern Ireland,

ensuring that we source, sell and market

the best of NI product. Through our

relationships with local suppliers we

support NI customers to buy the best of

what the region offers.

Support Office include: Product,

Marketing, Finance, People, Store

Operations.

Business SupportThe Business Support team enables stores and colleagues to create the best shopping experience for our customers, whenever and however they choose to shop with us, through world class efficiencies and market-leading service.

Technology

The Technology team is responsible for

driving change and delivering value by

building great technology products and

infrastructure for our customers and

colleagues — from the systems in our stores,

to the websites our customers use, to the

applications our office teams interact with

every day. Technology ensures that as the

retail environment is changing, we’re able to

focus on serving Tesco’s shoppers wherever,

whenever and however they want to shop

with us.

Functions within Technology include: Online,

Retail, Supply Chain & Fulfilment,

Infrastructure, Data, Security and Capability.

Legal

The Legal team provides commercial advice

on a variety of legal issues faced by global

retailers — drafting and negotiating

commercial contracts, advising on strategic

matters, contract interpretation, e-commerce,

intellectual property, data protection, and

dispute resolution and competition law.

Functions within Legal include: Property,

Finance, Government Relations, Litigation,

Ethics & Compliance, Marketing &

Commercial, and Company Secretariat.

Enabling Functions

Property & Maintenance

The Tesco Property team works

collaboratively with colleagues across

our business, as well as other

stakeholders, to understand how our

customers like to shop now, and in the

future. This ensures we create value

and deliver a great place to work and

shop.

Maintenance is made up of three key

areas: maintenance, engineering and

energy. Combined, they affect the

design, build and maintenance of every

store; from conception to execution, and

beyond.

Finance

Our Finance team has one of the broadest

perspectives in the business, touching every part

of Tesco PLC.

The size and reach of our business, not to mention

our focus on value for customers, means it’s vital for

us to have exceptional financial management and

planning strategies.

But it’s much more than numbers and analysis.

Good decision-making requires the team to really

understand Tesco customers’ needs, work

as trusted partners with colleagues throughout the

business and create a working environment where

our values thrive and everyone has the opportunity

to develop and get on.

Functions within Finance include: Audit,

Tax, Treasure, Group Reporting & Control,

UK Finance, Procurement, M&A and

Investor Relations.

Communications

It’s no longer just price, quality and convenience

that matter — customers want to know exactly

what Tesco stands for, and how we have a

positive impact on local communities.

The Communications team is here to tell

the Tesco story in a new, compelling and relevant

way.

Functions within Communications include: UK &

ROI Communications, Community, Campaigns,

Corporate Communications, Strategy, Planning

and Insight, International Communications.

Business Plan

The Business Planning team is at the heart of the

programmes that will turn Tesco around.

Functions within Business Plan include: Business

Plan Management and Programme Management.

Enabling Functions

Safety, Security &

Resilience

The Safety, Security and Resilience team

supports the business with proactively

identifying, assessing and prioritising risks.

Once a risk is identified, the team supports

stakeholders by using different risk models

to determine the probability and impact of

an incident. The team then looks at how

we can reduce Tesco’s exposure to this

type of risk and develop new approaches

to overcome this. The team also delivers

the Resilience programme across the UK

and tracks the delivery of key milestones.

Functions within Safety, Security &

Resilience include: Business Resilience,

Cyber Security, People Safety, Fraud

Management, Corporate Investigations,

LP&S Development.

People

Creating an environment where all our

colleagues can be their very best every

day is at the heart of everything the People

team does. From driving cultural change

and looking at how we reward and

recognise colleagues, through to building

the skills needed to deliver our business

objectives, there are lots of opportunities

to make a difference.

Functions within People include:

Resourcing, Employee Relations,

Organisation Design, Talent Management,

Business Partnering, Learning and

Reward & Benefits.

Group Strategy

The Group Strategy team is at the

forefront of transformational change,

tackling the big strategic questions the

business faces at a corporate, country or

business unit level. The Group Strategy

team also works closely with Tesco’s M&A

team in evaluating the strategic rationale

of proposed acquisitions, partnerships or

divestments.

Functions within Group Strategy include:

Strategy Management.

Enabling Functions

Tesco Pension Investment

Tesco Pension Investment (TPI) is the in-house

investment team created by the Trustee of the

Tesco PLC Pension Scheme.

TPI has the primary objective of achieving the

long-term investment goals of the UK occupational

pension scheme, as set by the Trustee and the

Trustee’s advisors.

Functions within TPI include: Global Equities,

Property, Risk & Performance, Strategy

and Operations.

Tesco Bengaluru

Tesco Bengaluru is the operations and technology

centre for Tesco worldwide. We build world-class

technology products and platforms, design stores

and manage Finance and Retail Operations. The

center was set up in May 2004 to enable

standardisation and build centralised capabilities

and competencies that can be leveraged across

Tesco.

Functions within Tesco Bengaluru include:

Finance, Technology, Property Services,

Retail & Distribution Operations and People.

Enabling Functions

India Trading –

Trent Hypermarket

Star, a unit of Trent Hypermarket PVt LTd, is a

joint venture between TATA-TESCO. It is a

multi-format grocery retail chain present in

Maharashtra and Karnataka. Star is positioned

to provide a modern shopping environment for

customers to shop across multiple product

categories with a focus on Fresh produce,

Customer Service and Convenience. Star

operates 31 stores across Mumbai, Pune and

Bangalore.

International

Tesco has been operating Internationally since

1995. We currently have operations in

Thailand, Malaysia and Central Europe,

covering both head office, distribution and

store.

Functions include: Finance, People, Sourcing,

Marketing and Supply Chain.

Tesco Bank

Tesco Bank commenced operations in 1997

as Tesco Personal Finance. Today, Tesco

Bank offers a range of simple and convenient

retail banking and insurance products

designed specifically to meet the needs of

Tesco UK customers, both online and over the

phone.

Tesco Bank’s main headquarters is located in

Edinburgh and is home to many of the Banks

central functions. Our customer contact

centres are based in Glasgow and Newcastle.

International & Bank

Republic of Ireland

Tesco Ireland is one of the biggest private

sector employers in Ireland employing over

14,000 colleagues across the country.

We contribute €3.2billion to the Irish economy

every year and source from over 480 Irish food

and drink suppliers. We offer careers across

all areas of our business including Stores,

Head Office and our Distribution Centre.

Our Head Office is made up of various
