a. Use a pencil. For non-fiction underline the key words.
b. Paraphrase each paragraph
3. Read the question
4. Go back in the text to find and verify your answer.
*Verify- underline and number in the text where the question is answered

• U: underline question in problem. Circle important information. Cross out extra information
• P: putting the symbol if there is one needed, completing the chart, finding the pattern- their plan is mainly shown through their work
• S: Show your work!!!!
• Check: do the opposite operation or a different way to make sure you did the problem correctly.
