Check the desired Broadcast or Cable network boxes and the Order column will update in the numeric order selected.

Parent/Satellite applies only to stations with parent and satellite station relationships. It allows to select only the Parent+ station, only the Parent station, only the Satellite station or any desired combination of the three

Include Spill will apply viewing sources to DMAs regardless of their home market.

Only Highest Cume applies when there are multiple stations with the same affiliation home to a market. If checked, only the station with the highest cume is selected. If unchecked, then multiple stations will be included.

Use the Add or Remove to include or exclude the selected networks in your list.

Global Selection Assistant Arianna allows you to create a list of viewing sources quickly using this tool.

Open the Global Selection Assistant by clicking on

the icon in the Stations/Cable Nets filter window.

Ranking Options Arianna provides several options for ranking analyses.

Ranking Options: To limit your output to specific number of items, check the Show top: box and type in your desired rank, i.e. 25 for a Top 25. Disable Duplicated Programs option excludes multiple instances of the same program in a ranker.

Standard: Ranks your analysis in the order selected and based on the statistic checked. Hierarchical: Moving from left to right in your output, Arianna finds the first available ranking domain (i.e. Title, Episode Title, Time) and applies a rank, keeping all prior domains in place. On Totals: Ranks your analysis by subtotals, i.e. by viewing source, keeping individual items making up the subtotal grouped together.

Check the desired statistic to rank, i.e. RTG, to rank by ratings. You’ll see a “1” and a small triangle indicating a rank from highest to lowest.

Double-clicking on the small triangle will toggle your sort from descending to ascending.

You may choose a second statistic to rank, i.e. SHR, to secondarily rank by share.

If desired, add the Rank column from list on the left to display the results of the ranking, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

Ranking Info: If multiple markets, demographics or time-shifting options are selected and displayed side-by-side in the output, you must choose which combination to use for ranking. If no selections are made, the first selection in each will be chosen automatically.

Arianna Dayparts Arianna allows you to create two kinds of dayparts, simple and advanced. Simple dayparts will apply the selected time range

and days of week to all viewing sources in your analysis. Advanced dayparts allow you to assign days of week and time ranges by viewing source. In the Grids, Programs and Daypart modules, use the Report Times filter to define the start/end times.

The Grids module allows you to feature dayparts at the bottom of your grid using the Bottom Line Dayparts filter. Note: To display “Various” for a daypart (i.e. Primetime) in your Multi-Day grid, it must first be created and saved.

Interacting with Analyses (cont.)

Click on the Field Chooser to open a box with a list of domains that can be added to your analysis. From this list, select the domain you wish to add and drag it to where you would like it to appear in your analysis. A red line appears. Release the mouse and analysis will reformat accordingly. In this example, the Day of week domain is being added to the page.

ADD DOMAINS Remove a domain from an analysis by dragging it into the blank area next to the Field Chooser. An “X” will appear indicating the domain is to be removed. Release the mouse and your analysis will reformat accordingly. In this example, the Day of week domain is being removed from the analysis.

Interacting with Analyses Arianna analyses are flexible, allowing you to rearrange the layout to meet your needs.

Domains can be moved, swapped, added and/or removed allowing for alternate views of the data.

Click on a domain and drag your mouse until you see a red line appear near another domain. Release the mouse and the domain will move to that location in your analysis. The analysis will reformat accordingly. In this example, the Time-shifting domain is moved off the page and onto the top of the analysis.

MOVING DOMAINS SWAPPING DOMAINS Click on a domain, drag your mouse, and hover over another domain until you see a red box appear. Release the mouse to swap the locations of the two domains in your analysis. The analysis will reformat accordingly. In this example, the Time-shifting domain is swapped with the Stations/Cable Nets domain and becomes the first domain on the top of the analysis.

Arianna Workspaces An Arianna workspace is a collection of active modules contained in a single file. Arianna workspaces are saved as files with a “.aws” extension. Once a workspace is saved, the modules contained can be moved

and copied from one .aws file to another using the Arianna Workspace File Manager.

When a workspace is open in Arianna, its contents appear in the workspace manager at the bottom of the screen. The concept is similar to that of an Excel workbook. Think of the workspace like the workbook as a whole, and the individual modules as the tabs within that workbook.

Cilck Save or Save As… icon to save the workspace to a file.
