I. INFORMACIÓN GENERAL DEL CURSO
A. Descripción del curso
Aplicación práctica de los principios y métodos de evaluación en la gerencia de
servicios de salud, programas y políticas. Distinción entre las ventajas y desventajas
de los diferentes métodos de investigación, comprensión de los conceptos de
costo-beneficio y costo-efectividad. El enfoque del curso va dirigido a la elaboración
de un modelo de evaluación de un programa y el uso de la información obtenida en
la evaluación de los programas o casos. La duración del curso es de ocho semanas.
El curso incluye dos horas contacto de laboratorio semanalmente.
B. Objetivos generales de contenido
Al finalizar el curso, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Describir qué se entiende por evaluación de servicios de salud, explicar por
qué evaluamos y quiénes hacen uso de los resultados de la evaluación.
2. Analizar su participación como estudiante en los procesos evaluativos de los
servicios a los que proyectan estar vinculados cuando ejerzan su profesión.
3. Explicar las características de las preguntas evaluativas y la selección de
estándares.
4. Comparar los siguientes diseños para la evaluación de programas en términos del
nivel de certeza que generan y de su viabilidad: experimentos, observaciones y
combinaciones de ambos.
5. Identificar ventajas y desventajas de diversos métodos de muestreo y sus
implicaciones para la utilidad y calidad de la evaluación.
6. Describir las ventajas y limitaciones de varias fuentes de datos
generalmente utilizados para evaluación.
7. Aplicar criterios para determinar el significado práctico de diferencias entre
grupos halladas en estudios evaluativos.

8. Identificar la información que debe incluirse en un informe evaluativo y algunos
criterios de calidad aplicables.
9. Identificar los principios básicos para planificar, manejar y desarrollar un
presupuesto para una evaluación.
C. Objetivos de lenguaje
Al finalizar el curso, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Comprender discursos orales, en español, a partir de los estímulos auditivos que se
presenten en el curso tales como vídeos, presentaciones audiovisuales y otras
actividades interactivas de manera colaborativa.
2. Expresar ideas con propiedad y corrección, tanto en inglés como en español, de
manera que desarrolle al máximo sus destrezas de comunicación oral y aplique sus
conocimientos sobre el curso a su área de especialidad y la vida cotidiana.
3. Investigar los datos que recopile, de los diversos recursos de la clase, tanto en inglés
como en español, de manera que se beneficie autónomamente de la lectura como
fuente de información y enriquecimiento cultural.
4. Emplear los principios de la gramática y ortografía española/inglesa desde una
postura personal, crítica, analítica y creativa de manera que provea datos pertinentes
relacionados con los temas del curso.

I. GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
A. Course description
Practical application of the principles and methods of evaluation in the management of
health services, programs, and policies. The intent is for students to distinguish between
the advantages and disadvantages of different research methods and also understand the
concepts of cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness. The approach is aimed at developing a
model for program evaluation and the use of information obtained in the evaluation of
programs or cases. The course duration is eight weeks and includes two weekly contact
hours at the laboratory.
B. Content objectives
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to
1. Describe the meaning of evaluation of health services, explain the reasons for
evaluation, and who are those who use their results.
2. Analyze future participation in the evaluation processes of the services, which
they expect to be part of in their future professional activities.
3. Explain the characteristics of the evaluation questions and the selection of
standards.
4. Compare the following designs for program evaluation in terms of their level of
certainty and viability: experiments, observations and combinations of both.
5. Identify advantages and disadvantages of different methods of sampling and its
implications for the usefulness and quality of the evaluation.
6. Describe the advantages and limitations of various data sources generally used for
evaluation.

7. Apply criteria to determine the practical significance of differences between
groups found in evaluation studies.

during the course such as videos, audiovisual presentations, and interactive

oral communication skills and apply knowledge of the course to his/her area of
specialty and everyday life.
3. Investigate information obtained from the different course resources, in English,
in order to benefit from reading as a source of information and cultural
enrichment.

personal, critical, and creative point of view, to provide information related to

A. Objetivos de contenido
Al completar el taller, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Discutir el trasfondo del campo de la evaluación de programas.
2. Explicar qué se entiende por evaluación de los servicios de salud según su
importancia y utilidad.
3. Identificar los usuarios y participantes de la evaluación.
4. Analizar la participación e importancia del rol de los gerentes de servicios de
salud en los procesos evaluativos de las instituciones de salud.
5. Laboratorio: Explorar los diversos programados existentes para la entrada y
análisis de datos y preparación de instrumentos de recogido de información para
la evaluación (e.g. SPSS, STATA, Epi-Info, RedCAP, Survey Monkey).
B. Objetivos específicos de lenguaje
Al terminar este taller, el estudiante será capaz de:
1. Demostrar comprensión de las instrucciones verbales, así como escuchar
activamente las presentaciones, discusiones y otros análisis relacionados con el
contenido del taller (tomar notas, contestar preguntas, etc).
2. Participar activamente en las discusiones en clase y sesiones de preguntas y
respuestas, así como presentar en grupos o individualmente sobre temas
relacionados con el contenido del taller (introducción, discusión de clase, mesa
redonda, sesión de preguntas y respuestas, etc).
3. Demostrar comprensión de las indicaciones escritas para las actividades del
taller, así como otros materiales suplementarios y de presentación.
4. Demostrar un dominio de la gramática y del vocabulario necesario para

electrónicos para investigar sobre la historia de los modelos evaluativos aplicados
a la salud, y describa al menos un modelo usado en tiempos actuales. Prepare un
resumen o un bosquejo y llévelo a clase para contribuir a la discusión del material
y aclarar dudas.

3. El facilitador creará un foro de discusión oral en la herramienta VoiveThread® de
Blackboard. En dicho foro, el estudiante elaborará sobre sus objetivos
profesionales y cómo esta clase apoya ese objetivo (actividad de socialización
utilizando la plataforma de BlackBoard para que los estudiantes y el profesor se
conozcan) El resto de la clase reaccionará oralmente a los comentarios de por lo
menos tres compañeros.
4. Escriba un ensayo de 2 páginas en el que explique el rol de los gerentes de
servicios de salud en la participación los procesos evaluativos de las instituciones
de salud. Asegúrese de redactar según APA, incluya las citas y referencias y
envíelo a NetTutor para recibir retroalimentación. El facilitador enviará los
trabajos escritos a SafeAssignTM para detectar casos de plagio. Coloque el
documento en el área de asignaciones en Blackboard, creado por el facilitador.
Llegue preparado a clase para que abunde al respecto.
5. Diseñe un diagrama de burbujas sobre los diversos tipos de evaluación con énfasis
en los servicios de salud partiendo de la definición de evaluación de los servicios
de salud y según su importancia y utilidad. Suba el documento en el área de
asignaciones creada por el facilitador, utilizando la herramienta de Blackboard.
Prepárese para que participe en una actividad colaborativa en clase.
6. El facilitador creará un foro de discusión escrita, en la herramienta Discussion
Board. En dicho foro, los alumnos contestarán y elaborarán las siguientes
preguntas: ¿Por qué es importante evaluar los programas de salud? ¿Cómo este
procesosee refleja en el desarrollo de procesos y pólizas de unidades o

compañeros.
7. Vaya a Rosetta Stone Advantage® y comience a trabajar los ejercicios que se han
diseñado para que desarrolle sus destrezas lingüísticas en español. Concentre sus
esfuerzos en ejercicios de vocabulario y de pronunciación del área de

2. El facilitador explicará detenidamente los requisitos del curso, se asegurará de que
el estudiante entienda las expectativas del mismo y sepa cómo se evaluará su
desempeño. El facilitador realizará lo siguiente:

c. Aclarará las directrices y dudas sobre el Digital Performance Portfolio

Semanalmente, el alumno es responsable de completar las tareas
pendientes hasta cumplir con todos los requisitos e instrucciones del
manual y del facilitador.
3. El facilitador preparará una actividad constructivista para repasar las asignaciones
que los estudiantes completaron antes del taller y para comprobar que entendieron

4. El facilitador involucrará a los estudiantes en actividades que fomenten el

disciplina de estudio. El facilitador reagrupará a los estudiantes en parejas. Cada
tándem (pareja) participará en la actividad conocida como tenis de mesa (ping
pong) en la que cada participante creará una oración a la que aplicará la palabra
del vocabulario, según el contexto que estudió. El facilitador indicará cómo y
cuándo los estudiantes utilizarán el vocabulario en el resto de las actividades de
lectura y escritura del taller.
5. El/la facilitador/a establecerá grupos de trabajo para llevar a cabo las dinámicas
grupales. Los grupos establecidos se mantendrán durante la duración del curso.
Cada grupo presentará un resumen de los hallazgos o actividades realizados antes
del taller. Los demás participantes de la clase presentarán sus preguntas y dudas a
medida que se realizan las presentaciones. El/La facilitador/a guiará al grupo y
tomará nota para presentar su resumen al final de cada actividad.
6. Discusión de Mesa redonda: ¿Cómo el proceso evaluativo puede ser aplicado
importancia al establecimiento de la política pública en los servicios de salud? ¿Es
este proceso necesario? ¿Por qué?
7. Durante el Taller, y con la guía del facilitador, los grupos de trabajo realizarán
discusiones socializadas sobre la información obtenida de los siguientes tópicos:

a. Línea de Tiempo sobre el trasfondo histórico del campo de la
evaluación de programas incluyendo el surgimiento de la
evaluación de los servicios de salud como disciplina.
b. La importancia y necesidad de llevar a cabo una evaluación y la
utilidad de los resultados de la evaluación para mejorar los
servicios y la toma de decisiones en las instituciones de servicios
de salud. Los estudiantes tomarán nota de lo discutido durante la
clase para corregir y/o actualizar la información obtenida sobre
este tema y completar el ensayo requerido para entregar antes de la
clase presencial del Taller #2.
c. Con la ayuda del facilitador, los estudiantes identificarán los
usuarios y participantes antes, durante y después de completada
una evaluación de programa y aprenderán la distinción entre
ambos grupos.
d. Los grupos de trabajo expondrán el análisis realizado a nivel
individual sobre la participación y el rol de los gerentes de
servicios de salud en los procesos evaluativos de las instituciones
de salud.
8. Actividad de Laboratorio de Computadoras. En la última hora del Taller, el/la
facilitador/a guiará a los estudiantes en la búsqueda de los diversos
programados existentes para la preparación de instrumentos de recogido de
información, entrada y análisis de datos comúnmente utilizados para los
diferentes tipos de metodología evaluativa (e.g. Survey Monkey, SPSS,

STATA, MiniTab, Epi-Info, RedCAP, entre otros). Los estudiantes
continuarán por cuenta propia explorando dichos programados, buscarán
información general, sus costos, ventajas y desventajas. Entregarán un
informe sobre los mismos para el próximo taller.
9. Actividad de cierre: Sesión de preguntas y respuestas. Para el próximo taller,
cada grupo de trabajo seleccionará un aspecto o un problema de salud pública
que interesen explorar desde el enfoque evaluativo (e.g. reforma de salud,
obesidad, maltrato de menores, violencia de género, satisfacción con los
servicios recibidos; Centros 330, enfermedades crónicas, hábitos de salud,
calidad de vida, etc.). Esta información servirá de base para el trabajo final
del curso que consistirá en la elaboración de instrumentos de recogido de
datos para la evaluación.
10. El facilitador escogerá uno de los temas del curso para que los estudiantes
contesten las primeras tres columnas del diagrama que se encuentra en el
Apéndice K: KWHLAQ Chart. Una vez las completen, las discutirán en clase.
Es necesario que los alumnos vayan llenando el resto de las columnas a lo
largo del curso, de manera que las discutan en la última semana.
11. Finalmente, el facilitador mencionará y aclarará las tareas que realizarán antes
del próximo taller.

community that relates to your group project. Explain the importance of this
program based on current health statistics and react to the comments of at least

4. Write a two-page essay about the need to carry out an evaluation and the
usefulness of the results of the such evaluation to improve services and decision-
making in health care institutions. Be sure to use APA style, include bibliographic
citations and references, and submit the essay to NetTutor for feedback. The
facilitator will send written works to SafeAssignTM to check for plagiarism.
5. Prepare a Venn diagram to compare qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods
of research. Be prepared to participate in a cooperative learning activity in class.
6. The facilitator will create a written discussion forum using the Discussion Board
tool in Blackboard. Students will answer the following questions: What are the
differences between research and evaluation? What are the similarities? Students
will react to the comments of at least three colleagues.
7. Continue working on the organization and completion of the digital portfolio

9. Begin preparing an updated literature review of the public health problem selected
by your workgroup during Workshop # 1. Find some research reports or other
materials no older than 5 years since publication. It is desirable that the group
attempts to find quantitative research, qualitative or mixed type. The information
should contain an overview of the health problem, affected population, main
findings, and type of instruments used. This information is necessary for the
preparation of the final project of this course. Each working group will report on
class attendance on the information obtained so far on this matter. A summary of
findings will be prepared to be presented in class.
E. Activities during the workshop
1. The facilitator will lead the class in a review of the topics covered in the
previous workshop to ensure students’ comprehension.
2. The facilitator will prepare a constructivist activity to review the assignments
completed by the students prior to the workshop and to ensure student
comprehension. All the reading and writing activities must be linked to the
technical vocabulary of the discipline of the workshop.
3. The facilitator will conduct a pronunciation exercise for the technical
vocabulary of the discipline of the workshop. This activity is designed to
develop/enhance oral skills, and it does not involve written activities. The
facilitator will use the following seven steps to teach the vocabulary as the
initial activity of the workshop:

a. The facilitator pronounces the word and asks students to repeat it at
least three times.

understood by the students (student-friendly language).
e. The facilitator highlights specific linguistic aspects, such as grammar,
spelling, polysemy, and others.
f. The facilitator engages the students in an activity designed to develop
word knowledge skills and the application of the concept to the
profession. The facilitator divides the students in pairs to engage in a
“ping pong” activity, in which each partner provides sentences using
the word in context.
g. The facilitator indicates how and when to use the vocabulary required
during the reading and writing activities of the workshop.
4. The students will continue filling out the last three columns of the KWHLAQ
Chart found in Appendix K on the topic determined by the facilitator in
Workshop One. Remember that this assignment will be discussed in the last
workshop.
5. Class Discussion (Open Forum): Students share their findings of the tasks
assigned on the main differences between quantitative research, qualitative
research and mixed research. The facilitator will guide students during the

discussion. Facilitator will go over the workshop themes, comparing the
experimental, observational and mixed methodology used in the evaluation of

6. After discussion, the facilitator will proceed to divide the class into working
groups to develop the following activities:
a. Socialized discussion of information obtained by students of different
sampling methods. The facilitator will guide students and discuss with
them the advantages and disadvantages of them and when they are
used in the evaluation.
b. Sampling exercise. This exercise will enable the student to become
familiar with various types of sampling: simple, random, non-random,
stratified, and systematic. The facilitator will provide several basic
exercises which will take place in the classroom.
c. Each working group will present to the class and the facilitator a brief
overview of selected public health problem as part of the course work.
The facilitator will comment on the information obtained and guide
students to define a component of topical interest with an evaluative
approach for students to begin exploring several instruments. These
instruments will be used to collect data and to also identify those that
best apply in the development of tools to be include as part of the final
project of the course.
7. Each group will report on the findings of the literature review so far, on the
public health aspect selected. They should present an overview of the selected

reviewed journals, clinical research and dissertations available in the Virtual
Library and other valuable sources.

Actividades antes del taller

D. Actividades durante el taller
1. El facilitador repasará los temas que se cubrieron en el taller anterior para
asegurarse que los alumnos comprendan el material.

b. Preparación de un presupuesto básico para la evaluación. Esta actividad
pretende ayudar a los estudiantes a planificar y desarrollar un
presupuesto general para llevar a cabo una evaluación. El facilitador
les entregará a cada grupo la información necesaria para hacer los
cálculos correspondientes para esta tarea.
7. El/La facilitador/a estará disponible para aclarar dudas y responder a las preguntas
que surjan durante estas actividades.
8. Actividad de Laboratorio de Computadoras. En los últimos 45 minutos del Taller,
los estudiantes buscarán con la ayuda del facilitador evaluaciones realizadas en
diversos contextos. Los estudiantes continuarán esta búsqueda por cuenta propia
y prepararán una lista focalizada de la información obtenida.
9. Actividad de cierre. Para el próximo taller los estudiantes a nivel grupal
completarán la revisión bibliográfica sobre el aspecto de salud pública

D. Activities before the Workshop
1. Follow the facilitator’s instructions to work on your glossary for the words detailed
in the Technical Vocabulary of the Discipline section.
2. Using the Virtual Library, Internet, and/or other academic resources from the E-
Lab, look for information on research surveys used by the U.S government agencies
to measure different levels of health, health risk, programmatically needs and
program effectiveness in the U.S population.
3. The facilitator will create an oral discussion forum using the VoiveThread® tool in
Blackboard. Students will orally discuss the use of surveys as means to collect
health information in the U.S. Provide examples and react to the comments of at
least three colleagues.
4. Write a number of pages determined by the facilitator -page essay after completing
an electronic search of research and / or evaluations in various scenarios. Select one
of the items found and make a summary. The summary must contain the purpose
of research and / or research, evaluation model and / or research, description of the
population, type of sampling, sample size, description of the instruments used and
the findings. Both the summary and copy of the article will be delivered to the
facilitator. Be sure to use APA style, include bibliographic citations and references,
and submit to NetTutor for feedback. The facilitator will send written works to

E. Activities during the workshop
1. The facilitator will lead the class in a review of the topics covered in the previous
workshops to ensure students’ comprehension.
2. The facilitator will prepare a constructivist activity to review the assignments
completed by the students prior to the workshop and to ensure student
comprehension. All the reading and writing activities must be linked to the
technical vocabulary of the discipline of the workshop.
3. The students will continue filling out the last three columns of the KWHLAQ
Chart found in Appendix K on the topic determined by the facilitator in
Workshop One. Remember that this assignment will be discussed in the last
workshop.
4. Discussion: go over the different assignments completed before the workshop.
5. After the discussion the facilitator will proceed to divide the class into working
groups to develop the following activities:
a. Each working group will discuss the concept map prepared
individually on sources of information for evaluation or research and
correct the same according to information provided by the facilitator
during the presentation of this topic.
b. The facilitator will assign each group to work on two or three methods
of data collection to present to the class with a brief description of their
advantages and disadvantages. Students, with the help of the facilitator,

b. The facilitator will assign each working group one of the
components of the logic model (inputs, activities, results and
impact in the short, medium and long term). Each group will make
a presentation of the assigned component.
c. Preparation of a logic model: This activity aims to provide students
with skills to prepare a logical model based on what was discussed
in class. The Facilitator will assign an article to each group
working on a program and the results of the evaluation. They will
also deliver a template for preparing a logic model of the assigned
program. Groups should review the assigned reading and identify
the program theory, the evaluation objectives and planned
activities. This information will be used to prepare the
corresponding logical model. They must develop at least three (3)
or more key questions relevant to developing the logic model.
Each group will make a presentation to the class and the facilitator
of the logic model.
6. Computer Lab: In the last hour of the workshop, students will look different
logical models designed for program evaluation in various settings and health
services. The facilitator will guide students through this process.

D. Actividades antes del taller
1. Continúe trabajando en su glosario del curso con los conceptos detallados en la
sección “Vocabulario técnico de la disciplina”; siga las instrucciones del
facilitador.
2. Utilice la Biblioteca Virtual, el Internet y otros recursos académicos del E-Lab,
como libros electrónicos, para investigar sobre un ensayo de las técnicas de
cómo se conducen los grupos focales. Prepare un resumen o un bosquejo y
llévelo a clases para contribuir a la discusión del material y aclarar dudas.
3. El facilitador creará un foro de discusión oral en la herramienta VoiveThread®
de Blackboard. En dicho foro, el estudiante discutirá oralmente cómo las tablas,
figuras, y estilos de presentación ayudan a entender los resultados de la
evaluación. El resto de la clase reaccionará oralmente a los comentarios de por
lo menos tres compañeros.
4. Escriba un ensayo acerca del desarrollo de informes de evaluación para
programas de salud a nivel estatal, nacional y global, así como la implicación de
resultados en el desarrollo de pólizas (el facilitador determinará el número de
páginas). Asegúrese de redactar según APA, incluya las citas y referencias y
envíelo a NetTutor para recibir retroalimentación. El facilitador enviará los
trabajos escritos a SafeAssignTM
para detectar casos de plagio.
5. Prepare una línea de tiempo (timeline) sobre los pasos del proceso de
evaluación desde su inicio hasta el momento del reporte final. Prepárese para
participar en una actividad colaborativa en clase.

E. Actividades durante el taller
1. El facilitador repasará los temas que se cubrieron en el taller anterior para
asegurarse de que los alumnos comprendan el material.
2. El facilitador preparará una actividad constructivista para repasar las
asignaciones que los estudiantes completaron antes del taller y para
comprobar que entendieron el material. Habrá oportunidad para aclarar
dudas. Todas las actividades de lectura y escritura tienen que estar
relacionadas con el vocabulario técnico de la disciplina.
3. Los estudiantes discutirán las asignaciones completadas antes del taller.
4. Luego de la discusión el facilitador procederá a dividir la clase en grupos de
trabajo para desarrollar las siguientes actividades:
a. Discusión socializada de la importancia de los resultados de la
evaluación para la toma de decisiones de un programa para
mejorar los servicios.
b. Presentación de la información obtenida sobre tablas, figuras,
posters e infográficos sobre el tema de salud pública
seleccionado por cada grupo.
c. Conducción de un grupo focal. Esta actividad pretende
facilitar a los estudiantes el desarrollo de destrezas sobre la
recogida de data de una evaluación cualitativa a través de la
conducción de un grupo focal. El/La Facilitador/a asignará un
tema al grupo de trabajo. Los estudiantes prepararán las
preguntas guías del tema asignado; escogerán un facilitador y

dos asistentes del facilitador a cargo de tomar las notas de la
entrevista grupal. Los otros miembros del grupo actuarán como
los participantes del grupo focal. Tendrán 20 minutos para
conducir la entrevista grupal sobre el tema asignado. Todos los
estudiantes participarán en la preparación del resumen de la
información obtenida y la preparación de un informe escrito
sobre los hallazgos.
5. Actividad de Laboratorio de Computadoras. En la última hora del Taller, los
estudiantes prepararán un informe escrito sobre los hallazgos del grupo focal.
El/La facilitador/a guiará a los estudiantes durante este proceso.
6. Actividad de cierre. Para el próximo taller los estudiantes administrarán el
cuestionario diseñado a 5 personas con el objetivo de validar el mismo. El
cuestionario debe complementar el proyecto final. Prepararán un informe
escrito del proyecto final y reportarán los hallazgos encontrados así como sus
recomendaciones.
7. El facilitador llevará a cabo una sesión de preguntas y respuestas.
6. Recuerde seguir llenando el resto de las columnas del Apéndice K: KWHLAQ
Chart a lo largo del curso, de manera que las discutan en la última semana.
7. El facilitador ofrecerá el segundo examen parcial en el momento que entienda
pertinente dentro de este taller.
8. Finalmente, el facilitador mencionará y aclarará las tareas que realizarán antes
del próximo taller.

1. Follow the facilitator’s instructions to work on your glossary for the words

2. Using the Virtual Library, Internet, and/or other academic resources from the E-
Lab, research information on what are the aspects of a presentation that make it a
strong instrument to convey information.
3. The facilitator will create an oral discussion forum using the VoiveThread® tool
in Blackboard. Students will orally discuss how the audience and setting of a

presentation can affect the manner in which a presentation takes place. Students
will be encouraged to use examples and react to the comments of at least three
colleagues.
4. Write a two-page essay about the effect of validity and reliability of instruments,
as well as bias affect results and usability of these in research and evaluation. Be
sure to use APA style, include bibliographic citations and references, and submit
to NetTutor for feedback. The facilitator will send written works to
SafeAssignTM to check for plagiarism.
5. Prepare a fishbone graphic organizer diagram to explain the set of steps necessary
to make a presentation strong and those that can affect its effectiveness. Be
prepared to participate in a cooperative learning activity in class.
6. The facilitator will create a written discussion forum using the Discussion Board
tool in Blackboard. Students will answer the following questions: Define the
Reliability of a Measure. Why is this an important value to take into consideration
when deciding on an instrument? Students will react to the comments of at least
three colleagues.
7. Finalize the digital portfolio ensuring that you have accurately complied with all
the guidelines stipulated in the Digital Performance Portfolio Assessment
Handbook. Submit the portfolio according to the facilitator’s instructions.
8. Go to Rosetta Stone Advantage® and complete all the corresponding activities
designed to develop/improve linguistic skills in English and Spanish. Complete
the information required in Appendix E: Language Lab/E-Lab Documentation
and submit, as indicated, to the facilitator.

9. Final Project Presentation. All groups will finalize their group presentation on the
health issue or program selected. Using the skills acquired during this course, as
well as the presentation check list (http://p2i.eval.org/index.php/presentation-
preparation-checklist-list/) they will prepare a presentation of the project as well
as of the instrument (s) selected the previous class and the findings based on the 5
subjects selected to complete the instrument. Students can use either PowerPoint o
Prezi. Write a written report of the finding using the format from evaluation report
template (https://wikieducator.org/images/5/53/Evaluation_report_template.pdf).
E. Activities during the workshop
1. The facilitator will lead the class in a review of the topics covered in the previous
workshop to ensure students’ comprehension.
2. The facilitator will prepare a constructivist activity to review the assignments
completed by the students prior to the workshop and to ensure student
comprehension. All the reading and writing activities must be linked to the
technical vocabulary of the discipline of the workshop.
3. The students will complete the last three columns of the KWHLAQ Chart found
in Appendix K on the topic determined by the facilitator in Workshop One and
share their information. A whole class discussion will follow, including a question
and answer session and a feedback session.
4. Group Discussion in a Round table format: Go over the activities completed
before the workshop.

5. There will be a socialized discussion on validation techniques of questionnaires
using randomly selected subjects.
6. Each working group will present on the selected public health issue, the
instrument (s) designed, the data collection, and the findings of the answers given
by 5 people who answered the questionnaire.
7. Students will write a one-page summary using correct Standard English
explaining how the language/e-lab activities contributed to and benefitted the
acquisition, improvement and/or enhancement of their English and Spanish
linguistic skills.
8. Students will complete the final course evaluation.
