New England’s Vintage Car Show 2016… New England’s Vintage Car Show enjoyed spectacular weather with bright sun and low humidity the entire weekend. This was very different from last when we were met with a deluge of rain on show morning. Attendance was down slightly but the quality was there in ample quantity for all to enjoy. We started the weekend with a bus ride to Warren’s Lobster House, a favorite of NEVT members, for our “Night Before the Show Dinner” in their sunroom. We had 29 members in attendance including four members from Quebec! As usual, the food was terrific and the sunroom bathed in sun along with a forecast of even more sun helped to build the excitement for the 2016 show. Leo Gravelle, our member from Quebec addressed the crowd and certainly built enthusiasm for the following day! Sunday morning, we traveled to the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum in the usual manner with me having to do three turn-a-rounds in spite of my GPS. This is the third year and of yet, I have never made it without turning around at some point. It is starting to be a running joke but the club members follow me anyway! This year we had the pleasure of using a huge, circus like tent, which was in use the day before for some kind of brew fest. The tent made life easier for us not having to set up our small tents. Of all the shows, this one was the least stressful. In just a short time, the registration desk was in full swing registering cars as they made their way onto the field. There was lots of club merchandise laid out for all to see and buy. There was a good selection of previous months Bird’s Nest for the taking. They are a great opportunity for prospective members to get a glimpse of our club. Apparently, they worked as you will

New England’s Vintage Car Show 2016…

New England’s Vintage Car Show enjoyed spectacular weather with bright sun and low humidity the entire weekend.

We had 29 members in

attendance including four members from Quebec!

Apparently, they worked as you will notice elsewhere, we signed up five new members.

Mark Melaragni was there broadcasting the music along with club raffles and news of the day. The car owners, and the general public, were busy selecting their choices for the awards to be presented later in the day to the lucky owners. The members working this show were just the best! Everyone pitched in where they were needed to insure a very smooth running show.

The greatest number of cars present was our friends from the Thunderbird Nest group and some of them are NEVT members as well. There was even a ‘Retro” from Tennessee! These folks and members always support us with their registrations, raffles, store sales and general enthusiasm. This year one of their members, Mark Holland, won the 50/50 raffle and donated part of it back

to the club! On top of that, I received his membership application in the mail the following week!

Taking the wonderful photos throughout this Bird’s Nest for you to enjoy were Barbara Fite, Lisa Raitt. Between all of us we manage to get a good selection. It’s amazing what different eyes see.The show is a wonderful place to renew old friendships and meet members that we don’t see that often. While we were down slightly in numbers of cars we made up in excitement!
