Henryk and Szaja Wigdor Hornung Twins Henryk and Szaja Wigdor Hornung were born on January 31, 1940 to Samuel and Regina (Monczyk) Hornung. They lived in Oswiecim, Poland and were arrested on March 19, 1941. From the book, “Jews of Oswiecim – 1918-1941,” we can trace their last known address to the Sosnowitz Ghetto before being transported to Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Samuel survived the war; however, his wife and twin sons have been presumed dead. Samuel then immigrated to Detroit, MI to be closer to extended family. It is here where he met survivor of Ravensbrück Concentration Camp, Ella Zaks. The two started a family and raised four children together.
