BostonUniversityprovidesmanydiversetypesoflivingaccommodations,whichassistinbroadeningthehorizonsofresidentstudents.OneveryuniquehouseistheHarrietE.RichardsCooperativeHouse.TheHouseisaresidencefortwenty-fourwomen,who,throughacooperativeventureassumetheresponsibilityofsharingtheexpenseanddoingthehousework.TheHouseislocatedat191BayStateRoad.Theresidentspay$215permonth,whichcoversroomandboard,utilities,minorrepairs,andgeneralmaintenance.Thisamountissubjecttochangeduetoinflation.TherearesixelectedofficerswithintheHouse:President,VicePresident,Treasurer,

Secretary,ClerkandSteward.Theseofficersareresponsiblefordifferentfunctionswithinthehouseaswellasmanagingthebudget.TheHouseDirector,agraduatestudentofBostonUniversity,servesasaresourcepersontoindividualstudentsandtotheHouseasawhole.Themembersofthehousesharethecookingandcleaningresponsibilities.ParticipationinmonthlyHousemeetingsandtraditionalhouseeventsisrequiredforallhousemembers.Therearealsomanyotheropportunitiesforhousememberstobecomeinvolved.

1. Eachmemberisexpectedtocarryouthershareofthehouseholddutiesaswellasmaintaingoodacademicstanding.Householddutiesusuallytakeapproximately3to5hoursaweek.Dinnerpreparationisalsosharedamongthehousemembers.

2. MembersoftheHousewhopermittheirgradepointaveragetofallbelow2.0for

anyoneyeararerequiredtowithdrawfromtheHouse.

3. Livingexpensesarecurrently$215permonth,SeptemberthroughMay.Thisfeeisreflectedinthebudgetthatisusedtodeterminefinancialneed.SpecificquestionsconcerningchangesshouldbeaddressedtotheOfficeofFinancialAssistance.

4. IndividualsentertheHousewiththeunderstandingthattheyaretoremaininthe

HousethroughouttheacademicyearunlessonleaveofabsencefromtheUniversity,askedtowithdrawbytheDirectorofResidenceLife,oronastudyabroadprogram.

5. MembersmustmaintainasignificantpresenceintheHousetomeetthedemandsof

livinginacooperativehouseandtobeavailabletomakecontributionstothehouse.Thiscommitmentwillbeexploredduringtheinterviewprocess.
