    HERAA Meeting MinutesFebruary 15, 2009

    In Attendance:

    Marjorie Kettell, President

    Zomana Majid, Vice PresidentRachel Fletcher, Corresponding SecretaryRae Lathrop, House President

    I. Prep for the Tea- Everything looks great! Rebecca dropped off decorations and tablecloths.

    Food is fantastic.- -HERAA will reimburse for expenses

    II. Report from shopping trip- -Marjorie and Gabby (house member) went to Boston Interiors. Saw one

    sleeper sofa and one TV unit of interest.- -Marjorie will keep looking at Jennifers Convertibles- -The ultimate goal is to order something in time for the Alumnae Tea April

    25th - -Budget is $2,500-3,000.- -Zomana is going to Jordans Furniture in the next few weeks and will check

    out their selection of color schemes and sizes

    III. Other French Room Updates- The marble table is starting to come apart at the legs, Marjorie will call Mr.

    Johnson again and ask him to check out both the dining room table and theFrench Room table

    - Pulleys in the drapes are not functional. Rae will ask Dick Steele to take alook.

    - Floor lamps are also a priority for the French Room and foyer

    IV. Status of the Treasury- Marjorie is still acting as treasurer with Stephanie as a co-signer.- Marjorie is working on getting an updated tax exemption form.- The accounts are doing well. An alum sent a very generous $1000 donation

    from her foundation.

    V. House Director and plans for the future- Kenn Douglass phoned Marjorie to inform her of the resignation of the House

    Director, Sarah. Told her he was laying the situation at her feet for themoment.

    - Office of Residence Life will be holding a meeting at the house on Tuesdaynight at 9 pm.

    - Rachel will email Rebecca about it.

    - Points to be covered include: disappointment over the behavior of some housemembers, the concern of ORL stepping in further if things continue at thispace, the changed attitudes and sense of entitlement in the house, remindingthat living in the house is a privilege that is to be taken seriously.

    - What will the consequences of this be?

    ****** Unfortunately the meeting had to be cut short at this point for the Tea. Points tobe covered at the next meeting include:

    Preparation for the Alumnae Tea-Invitations, program, entertainment, reports from officers- Awards to students at the meeting (Ruth Manwaring, Miss Co-op, EmmaSleeper)
