HERAA Meeting Minutes

January 25, 2009

In Attendance:

Marjorie Kettel, President

I. New Furniture shopping date is Tuesday February 10th

a. Rebecca has a coupon for purchases over $100 and will meet Marjorieand House Members at Storeb. Marjorie will pick up Rae, Antonia and two other house members at11 am at the House

II. Marjorie is working on getting a new tax exemption form

III. Table protector has still not arriveda. Marjorie is going to follow up with naugahide company

IV. Mr. Johnson still has not fixed the dining room tablea. Marjorie is going to follow up with him and coordinate a meeting time

with Rae

V. Valentines Day Tea, February 15 11 am-3 pma. Zomana has put the invite Rebecca mad on the website and reports that

sending the newsletter via email was quite successfulb. Antonia has suggested creating an e-invitation to send out via email

because the e-newsletter was a hit. She will make an e-vite and send tothe board for approval

c. Rebecca and Rachel will make paper invites and send to local alumnaewhose email addresses we do not have (about 150 women)

d. Food:-House will make tea and coffee-Zomana will make chocolate cake and use her remainingCostco money to pick up platters of sandwiches andveggies-Marjorie will bring bagels and dips

e. All House members will be invited to the Teaf. Antonia will specify that partners and children are welcome and to

RSVP by 02/08/09g. Rebecca unfortunately will miss the Tea but is going to drop off some

decorations ahead of time

VI. Camera for the HER hosue

a. Rae bought a very nice Canon SD79015 for the house with a 2-yearwarranty and a memory card

b. She is also planning to buy a safe and leave the camera locked in theSecretarys room.

c. The new/donated computer has arrived and the digital archive canbegin

VII. New Websitea. Zomana will make the Tea invite more prominentb. She realized there was no House contact info on the site and will use

the kitchen number617 352 700, her.cooperative@gmail.comc. Rachel will re-send all of the past meeting minutes to Zomana to fill in

gaps on websited. Zomana will re-scan the minutes for sensitive material

VIII. New House Director

a.

Kenn Douglass has appointed the HER House a new Hose Directorwithout the consent of the house. Members were upset with thisdecision-making process and met with him to express their concernsabout being left out of the process.

b. The new Director was interviewed and approved by the House at alater date and will move in this weekend. She will only be around forone semester and the House members are going to be vocal with Kennand the Director about getting more applicants ahead of time to avoidanother semester without any House Director.

c. Rae also plans to have weekly meetings with Kenn to discussrecruiting of new candidates for the Fall of 2009.

IX. Archivesa. Went really well. Rachel and Rebecca sifted through filing cabinets in

the Alumnae Room as well as the dining room and separated HERfrom HERAA materials, got rid of duplicates, and categorized photosand mixed media materials.

b. Will schedule another meeting after the Teac. Also plan on contacting Hilary Johnson, who put a coding system in

place for the archives that is at present indecipherable.

X. New Businessa. Alumnae Tea is scheduled for April 25th
