WHAT IS HERBOLOGY?

●The study of both mundane and magical plants.

●They can be for medical, protective, or purely educational purposed.

PLANT CARE EQUIPMENTDRAGON DUNG.

● From any fire-breathing dragon.

● Used as a soil fertiliser.

● Add to compost for an organic fertiliser.

● Acids in it break materials down to their most natural state.

● Scentless.

● Sometimes used to add scent to potions.

● Usually chosen based on temperament, toxicity, and other properties.

● Used in the Dreamless Sleep Potion.

● Between 5-7cms tall.

● pH range 7.9-8.4.

● Needs large amounts of water, but little sunlight.

● Grey-green and slimy.

● Gives full humans temporary gills and webbed fingers and toes.

● Grows to around 5ft.● pH range 4.5-5.0.● Needs around 7hrs of

sunlight.● Should be harvested in

autumn or spring.● Smells like a mix of

cherry and vanilla.● Is an anxiolytic –

inhibits anxiety.● Used in Draught of

Living Death and the Forgetfulness Potion.

KNOTGRASS

● Grows between 5cm and 4m.

● pH levels between 6.1-6.5, and 6.6-7.3.

● Needs lots of water and sunlight.

● Used in Polyjuice potions and love potions.

● Also used for urinary tract infections and for fertility issues.

DITTANY

● Grows between 20-30cms.

● pH levels 6.6-7.3.● Needs warmth and

sunlight.● Must be diluted to use.● Used to prevent

scarring, in several love potions.

● Used in the Wiggenweld Potion.

● In rare cases, can be used as a wand core.

MANDRAKE

● Grows between 5-40cm.● Causes hallucinations,

comas, and dreamlike states.

● Used in sleeping potions, love potions, and potions to revive petrified people.

● Can cause death with their screams.

DEVIL'S SNARE

● Grows in dark, damp areas.

● Swaying plant tendrils and vivid green.

● Attacks when your back is turned, asleep, or already tangled.

● DO NOT STRUGGLE!● Used to guard objects,

assassinations, or as a distraction.

● Hates light and heat.

BUBOTUBER

● Looks like a giant black slug.

● Releases gas-scented yellow pus.

● When diluted can treat acne.

● Undiluted causes rashes and burns.

● Requires very little sunlight.

● Does not mind cold weather.

RAT ROOT

● Grows to around 1m.● Leaves are strong

scented with a bitter taste.

● Can be used as a painkiller, an aphrodisiac, a diuretic, an hallucinogen, a laxative, or a sedative.

● Sweet smelling.● Needs plenty of water

and sunlight.

BOUNCING BULB

● Centaur Tears are best for watering.

● Can grow to the size of doorways.

● Is able to jump around.● Smaller bulbs can be

subdued by Flipendo.● Larger bulbs can be

subdued by Incendio.

GURDYROOT

● Foul smelling.● Used to “ward off

evil”.● Can grow in a diverse

range of environments.

● Can grow up to 15cm.● Needs a pot 7 ½ times

larger than the bulb.

ACONITE

● AKA Monkshood or Wolfsbane.

● A poisonous sedative.● Always wear

dragonhide gloves around it.

● Needs nutritious soil.● Thrives in shady

areas.● If poisoned, seek

medical attention IMMEDIATELY!

WORMSWOOD

● Associated with sorrow and bitterness.

● Used in potions since records began.

● Grows between 1-2m.● Prefers salty water.● Used in Draught of

Living Death.● Used to treat digestive

problems, induce sweating, stimulate the imagination, and more!

NON-MAGICAL PLANTS

● Much less temperamental than magical plants.

● Using them does not tend to cause explosions, major heat changes, or any other disasterous mishaps.

LILY PLANTS

● Comes in several colours.

● Regular water suits it fine..

● Are known to attract birds.

● Used to treat heart problems.

● Interact well with magic.

● Treatment for burns, coughs and fevers, stomach disorders, etc.

ENGLISH ROSE

● Grows in partial to full sunlight.

● Grows from 1-20ft.● Various colours.● pH levels 5.5-7.0.● Need a lot of water.● Used to treat burns, the

flu, diarrhea, sore throats, to stop nosebleeds, as an antidepressant, etc.

● Wear dragonhide gloves to protect against the thorns.

● Herbologists played an important role in both muggle and magical cultures.

● Means people are hesitant to fund the research of Herbologists.

● Herbologists make less money than other professions.

● Herbologists are often the scape-goats for other professions.

● Non-indigenous, introduced, exotic, and invasive species.

● Tend to require more resources, especially water.● Could cause mass extinction of plants and

animals.● Compromise research.● Can destroy the survival chances of rare and

endangered plants.
