Sportscotland School Sport AwardI am delighted to inform you that Hermitage Park Primary School has been awarded Sportscotland School Sport GOLD award. This is in recognition of all the hard work we do around physical education and sport in particular.

Moving to Email CommunicationJust a reminder to ensure that you are registered for our new ParentPay system to ensure that you are able to receive our newsletters when we move over to email communication. If you have not already registered for this system, can I please ask you to contact Sarah Reid in the office who will issue you with new log-in details. Thank you.

Visit from HMIe InspectorsAs you know we were visited be HMIe inspectors last week. I am delighted to tell you that our inspection was very positive and has confirmed our views regarding where the school is and where our next steps are.

Letters will be issued by Education Scotland in the next few weeks to give further details. As yet, the date of this has still to be confirmed.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of those who took the time to complete the questionnaire and also those who came in to meet with the inspectors to talk about the school.

Primary 2 Class TeacherAs you know, Miss Bishop will be leaving us tomorrow to take up her post at Broughton Primary School. Whilst we had advertised her post, we did not get sufficient applicants and the post has had to be re-advertised.

I have been able to secure Ms. Aimee Allan to cover this class (with Mrs Browning) starting Monday until we are in a position to appoint. Ms. Allan has been in school already to get to know the class and to ensure a smooth transition.

Nursery NewsThis week in nursery we have been showing a particular interest in Fairytales. Our favourite has been Goldilocks and the Three bears. We have the story in our cosy corner.

Some of the children have been pretending to make porridge and this led to us discussing our favourite cereals.

The pupils have made a bar chart about their favourite cereals. This activity demonstrates early data handling and counting.

In conjunction with the school, the nursery will be collecting donations for harvest thanksgiving soon. Look out for more information about this next week.

The nursery will be designing Christmas cards next week for you to purchase. Their designs will be displayed in the cloakroom next week. You can take an envelope, choose your order and return it to nursery. The design will be sent away to be made into a card.

School Association Beetle DriveTickets are still on sale for the School Association Beetle Drive which will take place on Monday (25 th September) 6.30-8pm.  Tickets cost £2 per adult; £1 per child (including refreshments). Any donations for the tombola stall can still be handed into the school office.
