Autumn blessings! Thank you to all who filled out a
survey at the center. I have a better idea of what
you want out of your center, and I will do my best to
improve what we provide.
As I write this newsletter, there are many changes
occurring behind the scenes when it comes to the
various programs we administer. Lots can affect
what is going on, from the State and Federal budg-
ets to more refined ways of processing things.
Please be patient with us as we adjust.
There is a lot coming our way. We are looking at up-
grading our recordkeeping to a system that allows
guests to use a credit-card key to “log in” for activi-
ties and other events. Also, a new bus should be
coming our way soon to improve the comfort of our
passengers.
So, just like the seasons, we are always changing.
We do our best to weather whatever comes our
way. We appreciate the support that all of you give
us. We do this for you and we are truly grateful.

MEDICARE MINUTES Open Enrollment season is here!
At the time of this printing, the fed-
eral budget was still not decided. The
MMAP program could lose funding
which would affect counselors helping you during
this open enrollment time. We are hoping to con-
tinue with the MMAP program to assist you with your
Medicare/Medicaid needs.
If you want to take the time to compare plans,
MMAP counselors can assist you with giving you in-
formation to make an informed decision. We ask
that you call us for an appointment time to ensure
you have our undivided attention. Some of us wear
many hats and MMAP is just one. We do our best to
make sure this time of year to assist all we can in
this tight time period. Please bring with you your
red/white/blue Medicare card, a list of your current
prescriptions and dosages and any other health in-
surance cards you have. These will help us under-
stand what your current coverage is and make com-
paring future plans a bit easier for you.
Ghouls just
wanna have fun! Join us for a ghoulishly good time at
our Halloween Party Tuesday, Oct.
31. The party begins at 11:30 a.m.,
and dinner is served when the clock strikes 12.
We will have the center decorated like a haunted
mansion. We are looking for a few good ghosts to
haunt this place, so we are asking that you please
come in costume, and, if you prefer -- a ghost! Any
costume you wish to arrive in is fine with us. There
will be a costume contest. We will have a photo “boo
-th” for your photo taking. Perhaps we will play a
game or two, or some other eerie fun … who knows
what fun we will scare up for you!
Cost is the usual donation of $3 for guests 60 and
over, and guests under 60 must pay $7. Please call
at least a day in advance to reserve your meal. We
will be serving BBQ baked chicken, potatoes,
squash, fruit and a spooky dessert. Scare up some
friends and join in on the fun!

AARP Safe Driving Course Why take the AARP Safe driver course? Because driving has changed since you first got your license, and do-
ing so could save you money. Cars have changed, and so have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads
you travel everyday. Some drivers 50+ have never looked back since they got their first driver’s license, but
even the most experienced drivers can benefit from refreshing their driving skills. By taking a driver refresher
course you’ll learn current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate your vehicle
more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. You'll learn how you can manage and
accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. In addition, you'll learn:
• Research based safety strategies that can reduce the likelihood of having a crash
• Proper use of seat belts, air bags, antilock brakes and new technology found in cars today
• Ways to monitor your own and others driving skills and capabilities
• The effects of medications on driving
• The importance of eliminating distractions, such as eating, smoking and using a cellphone.
After completing the course, you will have a greater appreciation of driving challenges and a better under-
standing of how to avoid potential collisions and injuring yourself and others.
You may be eligible to receive an insurance discount upon completing the course, so consult your insurance
agent for details.
The Mid County Senior Center in Daggett will be hosting a AARP Safe Driving Course Oct. 19-20. The class is
$15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers.
The class will meet from 9 a.m.- noon with an hour lunch break and resume 1-3 p.m. Thursday. Schedule for
Friday is 9 a.m.–noon. Lunch is available both days through the senior nutrition program. Registration is nec-
essary for both class and meal. Call the Mid County Senior Center, 753-6986.
NEW EXERCISE CLASS The M&M Community Foundation has provided
funding for a Sit & Get Fit Exercise Program to begin
Oct. 4 at the Mid County Senior Center in Daggett.
The class will be held weekly on Wednesdays and
Fridays from 10-10:30 a.m. and continue for six
weeks. Certified health and wellness instructors
from the YMCA will teach the class, which will in-
clude weights and bands. Light refreshments will be
provided after each class. Please join us!
