How did Hermes come into existence?

Once upon a time Hermes was born in

Arcadia near mountain Cyllene. He was

washed by nymphs at the mountain Tricrena.

The first hours after his birth, he escaped from his

cradle, went to Pieiria, and carried off some of the

oxen of Apollo.
