From the East

Brethren -

Everyone was comfortable at our Stated meeting in July. First prize went to Brother Per Ankh

for his stylish Hawaiian shirt. Consolation prize went to Brother Derrick for his … blue suit.

That’ll teach folks to read the Trestleboard. Right Worshipful Donald Ellis Strehle, Grand Junior Warden visited and gave an inspiring presentation on “The Why” in Freemasonry.

Several brethren (besides the Officers) came to SLOT this month to enjoy a thoughtful presentation on Leadership by Bro James Lucas (BGen USAF Ret). Brother James had many

insights, and quite a few interesting stories to tell.

Herndon also had a good showing out in Bluemont to welcome Most Worshipful William

Edward Hershey to his official visit to Districts 2 & 3. Congratulations to RW Greg for pulling

off a great event.

Among the topics discussed, MW Hershey reminded those attending of his support to youth

groups, calling out essay entries and a new DeMolay Chapter. Herndon Lodge supports both a

DeMolay Chapter and a Job’s Daughters Bethel.

The ladies of Bethel 52 attended the Virginia Grand Session and brought home Best in Show

1st Place Choir Competition. Congratulations to WB Robert Worthington on being installed as Grand Associate Bethel Guardian.

The gentlemen of CDR William L Herndon Chapter attended Virginia Conclave and brought home first place in billiards and the Chapter Representative DeMolay Award. Finally, District 2

was recognized by Virginia DeMolay as Sponsoring Masonic Body of the Year.

Congratulations all around!

This August Herndon Lodge celebrates 50 years at our current location. At our Stated

meeting, a commemorative retrospective will be provided by Brothers Eric LeHew and Matt Vepraskas.

Sincerely and Fraternally
