Drawing – Who is your hero? What qualities would a hero need? Can you sketch a portrait of your hero? This could be someone you know or you could even invent your own super hero? Think carefully about how you can draw their features. Can you create a portrait in black and white by using just a pencil? This clip will help you draw a face…did you know that your eyes are halfway down your face?

Superhero Headquarters All Superheroes need somewhere to rest after all their superhero duties. So they need their own headquarters. Lots of superheroes have a den or hideout where they can observe from afar and wait for the call to go and help people in need. It’s also where they keep all of their super equipment, vehicles and costumes. Can you design a headquarters for an existing superhero or a new one that you have created? Remember to draw and label your design carefully. You might even like to find some scraps of materials and make your own soft toy version of a super hero.
His
tory
We would like you to take some time to think about one of our heroes of today, Sir Captain Tom Moore. As many of you will know Sir Captain Tom Moore completed 100 laps of his garden to raise over an amazing £32 million for the NHS. What a fantastic achievement! He achieved this just before his 100th birthday. You have 2 tasks that you can choose to complete:
1) Research Captain Tom Moore’s life. 2) Find out about exciting events which have taken place in history over the past 100 years.
Present your findings in whichever way you wish. It could be a Fact file, Powerpoint presentation, a poster, or a timeline. Remember to search the Internet safely

Flying superheroes – you will need: balloons, felt pens, different types of paper: tissue, kitchen roll etc. and sticky tape.
1. Using the different types of paper, create super hero capes that are the same size and shape, decorate them.
2. Draw faces on the balloons 3. Blow the balloons up (you will need an adult to help you with this part) but don’t tie them off. Keeping the
opening closed with your hand. 4. Using the sticky tape, attach one of the capes to the thinner end of the balloon to make a cape. 5. Let go of the balloon and watch it whizz round the room – how far did your superhero fly? 6. Try the other capes, which worked best? Why do think that was?

Drawing –What type of super hero am I? We would like you to find a picture of yourself and stick it into the middle of a sheet of
paper. Around the outside choose words that describe you as a super hero. These could be physical features and
characteristics. Remember, everyone is an individual and we all have hero qualities! Use words like 'strong, kind,
thoughtful and determined'. If you wanted to continue then you could draw yourself as your super hero or write a
short speech, perhaps film it and send it to your teachers, they would love to watch it.
Year 4 Spelling
Remember you have your red spelling
journals at home with you. At the front
of the book is a reminder of all the
strategies we have used in school to
help us practise them. Pick any of them
to help you learn your spellings in a fun way.
Prefixes ‘super’, ‘anti’, ‘auto’
Su permarket, superhuman, superstar,

Staying Safe Online
Whilst at home, we expect children are using the internet and computer devices more
frequently during these unprecedented times. As a parent or carer, you play a key role in
helping your child to stay safe online. Please read the following government guidance. In
particular Section 6:3: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers Thank you for your continuous support.
Forest School/Outside Learning Opportunity
Shadow drawing. Take your favourite superhero toy outside with some paper and a pencil. This will only work when the sun is shining and it is better early in the morning or later in the afternoon
when the sun is lower. Draw around the
shadow on the paper. You have drawn a 2D version of your 3D toy! (2D shapes are flat 3D shapes are fat). Maybe you could use your picture to illustrate a story you write about
your favourite superhero toy?
Reading Comprehension We hope during the school closure period you will
continue to read daily. Dig out those books on your bookshelves you haven’t read for a long
time. Remember our reading domain dogs and ask your grown-ups to ask you some
questions using your bookmarks for ideas.
Find out about real life superhero Captain Sir Tom Moore by reading and
answering the questions. You can find this reading comprehension on our home learning page.
Collective Worship
Have you ever been so engrossed in
something that you have forgotten to eat
your lunch?
This is what happened when 5000 people
were listening to Jesus’ stories. Luckily,
Jesus was able to help them out. He was
their hero! Click on the picture to listen to
the story.
