nothing stopping you if you wish!

Hesley Wood Activity Centre is owned and managed by South Yorkshire Scout Association and is situated near the historic city of Sheffield. Here at Hesley Wood we have 132 acres of fields and beautiful woodland waiting to be explored by you.

Boasting comprehensive bedded accommodation, to fit all types of circumstances, side by side with stunning woodland camping. Hesley Wood has something to offer everyone. The great thing about Hesley Wood is its potential, whether you are a small group, wanting to rule the roost, or have 2000 for an

event or activity weekend, we have the experience, knowledge and resources to handle it.

The site has benefited over the years from healthy investment, which provides a wide ranging scope of on site activities. Delivering adventitious activities on site such as canoeing, orienteering or climbing, we are sure we can give young people a fun and exciting experience whilst learning in a new and challenging environment. Plus we’re accredited to deliver, with the Learning Outside the Classroom and Adventure Mark (Adventure Activity Industry Advisory Committee).

If you have space left within your activity programme, why not fill the gaps with two free activities to keep the group busy? We have a 15 question Hesley Wood Trail which will take them on a hunt for answers around the campsite or the Beaver Trail which leads

them on a hunt for the bothersome beavers that are hiding in the trees.

Hesley Wood with its 132 acres of space, can fit in LOTS of campers!

We offer a range of sites, from small woodland clearings, great for Patrol camping, through to sizable clearings for Troop camps. As well as the long field, which can accommodate hundreds!

Of course if you want to experience a real backwoods camp, some of our “off the beaten track” pocket sites, are excellent just for this. Giving you the room to pitch a tarp or build a shelter. If you want a supplier for the obligatory rabbit to skin, butcher and cook, just ask, we have some savvy butchers near by!

Most of the key camping areas are only 5 minutes walk away from a toilet block.
