MATHS AND FOOTY IN YEAR 3/4

Students in Grade 3/4 have been working on graphs and what could be closer to everyone’s heart in footy season but to find out who barracks for which team. Students made a class graph as well as individual graphs and then they organised themselves into a human graph!

Once they had made their graph, they posed questions about it; this meant they were using higher order thinking skills as they had to look for connections and patterns in the graph and then come up with good questions.

PRAYER CORNER Sacred Heart of Jesus Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, I love You so much and I give You my heart. Help me to love God, to love my neighbor and to love myself. Amen

FANTASTIC FRACTIONS IN 5/6

Students in 5-6 were asked to investigate:

‘Can you add fractions like this? 2/4 + 1/4 = 3/8 because

you add the top numbers and the bottom numbers.

Why / why not? ’ After some collaboration, decision

making and problem solving students changed their

thinking. Here is why:

CRAFTY AND CARING

Lilla helped knit a scarf for her friend kara. It is great to see

our students trying new things like knitting. The scarf has

come in handy for Cara on the frosty cold winter

mornings.

CHURCH CLEANING ROSTER

Remember the church key is always available from Timberline so you can clean the church and support our parish at a time convenient to you
