Ad Hoc Analysis

In ad hoc analysis% you use Smart View !unctionality with Ecel spreadsheets to retrieve

and analy&e data 'y selecting mem'ers% using !unctions% and per!orming a variety o!

operations% including !ormatting% to design your reports(

To start ad hoc analysis:

To specify preservation of formulas in ad hoc grids:

Include Selection to display 'oth the selected mem'er and the mem'ers retrieved as a

:ooming and *ormatting

9ou can apply the !ormatting o! the cell that you &oom in on to the cells that are created

'y &ooming( *or Smart View !ormatting% this a'ility applies to data cells( *or Ecel

!ormatting% this a'ility applies to mem'er cells(

,ivoting changes the orientation o! the data on the worsheet( 9ou can move

dimensions 'etween rows and columns and 'etween the grid and the ,OV(






Removing Selected 4em'ers *rom the Grid

9ou can remove mem'ers and their associated data !rom the grid as !ollows-#o eep only the currently selected mem'ers% select the mem'er cells that you want to

eep( #hen% !rom the data source ri''on% clic 7eep Only( All other mem'ers in the

dimension are removed(#o remove all mem'ers ecept the currently selected mem'er cells% select the cells

that you want to remove( #hen% !rom the data source ri''on% clic Remove Only(






"ascading Reports and Ad Hoc Grids

9ou can create separate reports !or any or all o! the mem'ers o! one dimension in a

report 'ased on an ad hoc grid or Smart Slice uery and cascade these reports

separately across the worsheets o! an Ecel wor'oo( *or reports created in the Report

$esigner% you can also cascade reports across slides in a ,ower,oint presentation(

>orsheets or slides are created as needed to accommodate all reports(
