As there is no direct upgrade path from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3 what option are there?

Using HFM CopyApp utility and HFM Schema Upgrade utility, is it possible to upgrade HFM from 11.1.1.3

to 11.1.2.3 ?The scenario will be like below:1. Using CopyApp utility, create a copy of existing 11.1.1.3 HFM

Application.2. Using Schema Upgrade, upgrade copied HFM application.

In Financial Management Application Copy Utility v1.4 it states that:The utility can be used to copy an older versioned application into a newer versioned environment to allow the Schema Upgrade utility to upgrade the newly copied application:o Example: Copying an application from an older release in Production to a newer release in a Test environment. The 

application can be refreshed from production into test and schema upgrade utility run again.Thanks..

Hello,

Your proposal is a commonly used method for upgrading an FM application.

I have not checked the version of the copy application utility on 11.1.2.3 (1.4?) but you should use this over the one

in 11.1.1.3.

Before starting however you should patch to FM PSU 100 which is available to download in the Patches and

Updates section of MOS.

Always do this on a Test environment before production to make sure the method suits your needs.

The short answer is yes.

The longer answer is that there are some properties associated with the new multi-dimensionality that are not in

11.1.1.3. You need to be aware of these difference. Couple of the pitfalls.

1) Make sure your current custom dimensions alias do not have spaces in them

2) Realize that your custom dimensions will names will change based on your alias.3) Read documentation on custom dimension sizing. Avoid using Small, unless you absolutely need to.

4) If you are planning on adding dimensions to your application, you will need to make some adjustments to your

rules.

These are some of the more common pitfalls.
