Watford takes first steps to be dementia-friendly The Mayor of Watford hosted a public meeting on 12 October to invite people affected by dementia to say what would make a difference for them in the town. Turnout was fantastic and planning will start soon, showing just how much people do care about making our communities dementia-friendly.

Half of women 'will develop dementia or Parkinson's or have a stroke' A third of men and one in two women aged 45 now will develop dementia or Parkinson’s or have a stroke within their lifetime say researchers from University Medical Centre, Rotterdam in the Nederlands. Researchers add that eating a balanced diet, controlling our weight, staying physically active, not smoking, only drinking within the recommended limits and keeping blood pressure and cholesterol in check are all associated with better brain health into old age. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/oct/01/half-of-women-will-develop-dementia-or-parkinsons-or-have-a-stroke
