higgs mechanism
DESCRIPTION
In particle physics, the Higgs mechanism is essential to explain the generation mechanism of the property "mass" for gauge bosons. The simplest description of the mechanism adds a Higgs field to the Standard Model gauge theory. The symmetry breaking triggers conversion of the longitudinal field component to the Higgs boson, which interacts with itself and (at least a part of) the other fields in the theory, so as to produce mass terms for the Z and W bosons.TRANSCRIPT
