HIGH INTENSITY VOLLEYBALL… CAMP BROCHURE Ed Garza joined the Austin College coaching staff in August 1996 as the Kangaroos’ fifth full-time head volleyball coach. Garza is Co-Founder of Dallas Summit/Premier and NorTex Volleyball club. Where in the past 21 years has Qualified 17 teams to the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships. Ed is the Head Coach at Austin College where he has moved into the #12 spot of winning active coaches and #38 in all time wins for NCAA Division III. He has guided Austin College to six appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament, advancing to the sweet 16 round in 2005. His Collegiate record now stands 574-230 (.710 winning percentage). Since 2002 Austin College has been ranked among the top 25 in the Nation in weekly poll conducted by the AVCA and six of the last eight years the volleyball team has won 26 or more matches per season. The Kangaroos have finished first or second in the American Southwest Conference Championship in eight of his ten campaigns. In 2005 Austin College won the conference tournament in their last year in the American Southwest Conference. In 2006 and 2007 the kangaroos advanced to the Championship match of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The 2006 team finished ranked 14 th in the nation with a record of 38 wins a new school record. Garza has coached One First Team All American, four Second Team All Americans, and Six Honorable Mention All Americans. Two Freshman of the Year in The South Region AVCA, Two National players of the week and 69 players who have made All Conference in the last 20 years. Coach Garza has been name Coach of the Year seven times in the American Southwest conference and in 2007 was name Coach of the Year in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference too. Before Austin College he served as Head Coach at North Lake College for two years Garza also served as an assistant coach at Henderson State University in 1989- 90, plus he was an assistant at Ouachita Baptist University (his Alma mater) from 1986-1989.Garza earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Ouachita Baptist University in 1986. Attending a volleyball camp can be a great experience for a young player. A young player will improve her skills level and knowledge of the game by working on both fundamental techniques of the game and overall team concepts. Plus the players get to make new friends who they will likely play with and against over the next few years. To get most out of the camp, it is very important that all participants show up in peak physical condition. We want to spend time focusing on the skills of the game. In consideration of participation in this event, I agree, on behalf of the above named child, his/her heirs and representative to fully and forever release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless High Intensity camp, its agents, servants and employees from any and all claims, demands, damages, rights of action or causes of action, present or future, whether the same be know, anticipated or of participation in this event. I HEREBY AUTHORIZE IN ADVANCE ANY NECESSARY MEDICAL TREATMENT REQUIRED BY THE ABOVE NAMED CHILD WHILE IN ATTENDANCE OF THIS CAMP. I ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE/WILL NOTIFY THE CAMP PERSONNEL OF ANY SPECIAL MEDICAL NEEDS OR INFORMATION REQUIRED BY THE ABOVE NAMED CHILD.
