Maintenance
Understanding your challenges and
requirements is key to establishing the best
solutions for your community. We work with you
to identify the products that will be the most
effective for the long term, to streamline the
installation process with recommendations and
support, and to provide a detailed maintenance
plan to ensure that your flooring performs at the
highest level for years to come.
We have developed proprietary technologies
that meet the unique performance needs of
each space to ensure a long-lasting flooring
installation. These enhancements are designed
to help your flooring resist soiling and stains,
prevent bacteria and fungal growth, block
odors and improve cleanability. Plus, they are
guaranteed to remain on your floor and maintain
efficacy through regular cleanings–including hot
water extraction.

Effectiveness of Sentir® in Reducing Ammonia-Based odors
0.4 grams of a 10% solution of ammonia dropped onto 3˝ x 3˝
carpet square. Within only one hour of elapsed time, the trace of
ammonia in the air of the treated flooring was reduced 68% more
than the untreated flooring.

Sentir®

Flooring Installation in Occupied Spaces
Our quick and flexible installation solutions allow you
to install flooring easily and with minimal disruption
to your residents, staff and guests.
TileTabs®
Our high-tack adhesive TileTabs® for modular carpet
allow installation and replacement of flooring without
the use of spread adhesives. Simply peel the tab,
press on the carpet back, and place. TileTabs® are
odorless, glue-VOC-free and eliminate drying time,
making your space available for immediate traffic
and occupancy.
PreFix®
PreFix® pre-applied releasable adhesive backing is
available on all Kinetex products. The release liner
easily peels away revealing a series of pre-applied
adhesive strips that securely anchor the Kinetex
module in place. PreFix® provides an odorless
installation that eliminates the need for drying time,
allowing for immediate traffic and occupancy.
Loose-Lay LVT
Loose-lay installation options are available for a
broad selection of our LVT products. A perimeter of
glue is all that is needed to secure the installation
in place, ensuring a quick, low-odor installation
and immediate traffic and occupancy. If a plank
becomes damaged, it is easy to simply remove and
replace, an advantage over traditional tongue and
groove or click flooring products.

Life Cycle Cost of Ownership
When evaluating the total life cycle cost of
ownership–defined as the cost of flooring materials,
installation and maintenance over a 7-10 year
period – J+J flooring solutions have a significant
cost advantage. Maintenance for our LVT and
Kinetex products is less than half the cost of
maintenance for hard surface options like VCT and
rubber. And when it is time to replace your flooring,
the replacement costs are significantly lower
compared to other flooring alternatives.

Solution forMoisture Mitigation
If high moisture emission is detected during
concrete moisture testing, proper precautions
need to be taken to prevent flooring
system failures.
Kinetex will perform in elevated RH slabs up
to 95% and up to 99% when using PreFix.
The breathable nature of this product allows
moisture to pass through the backing rather
than trap it underneath. This method of vapor
transmission allows Kinetex to be installed
without costly moisture mitigation as long as the
Relative Humidity Test reads 99% or below.

Ambulation
The proper floor covering selection
contributes to an environment where
residents feel confident and comfortable
moving from place to place. Diminishing visual
acuity, equilibrium and gait strength are all
conditions faced by the aging population
that make even simple ambulatory activities
difficult. Choosing flooring products that
work together with low profiles and minimal
transitions can increase a resident’s peace of
mind and enhance quality of life.

Safety, Slips & Falls
Safety is a key criterion in choosing flooring
solutions for Senior Living environments.
Providing a firm, non-slippery flooring surface can
help residents gain confidence in their abilities and
keep their independence. Soft surface flooring
solutions such as carpet and Kinetex offer a high
coefficient of friction - leading to a safer surface
to walk. With its breakthrough construction,
Kinetex is one of the most slip-resistant flooring
surfaces in wet or dry conditions, helping to
prevent falls.
Should a fall occur, carpet or Kinetex may reduce
the impact thus reducing the risk or severity of the
injury. The selection of these soft surface floor
coverings are effective solutions to enhance the
overall safety and well-being in the community.

Roller Mobility
The rolling resistance of floor covering is an
important factor to evaluate for roller mobility
safety. Initial rolling resistance measures the
amount of force required to push a hospital bed,
wheelchair, food service cart or other wheeled
object forward from a stopped position. The
rolling resistance coefficient, or coefficient of
rolling friction, is a measure of the amount of
force needed for steady pushing. In each case,
the lower the resistance, the easier it is to push
the object. A low profile flooring will have minimal
rolling resistance, potentially reducing injuries from
pushing and pulling, creating a safer condition for
staff and residents.

Flooring Transitions
Flooring transitions can be problematic when
different flooring types are installed in the
same project. Differences in the height of the
products require a transition strip, creating a
possible trip hazard. Our 5mm LVT is designed
to transition to both J+J modular carpet and
Kinetex with no need for transition strips. This
allows for ease of movement between spaces
and reduces risk of trips and overexertion.

Acoustics
High noise levels can contribute to physiological
stress and poor sleep quality of residents. Speech
recognition, which is critical to the delivery of
good care, is also impacted by high noise levels.
Selecting a flooring with high Noise Reduction
Coefficients and Impact Insulation Classifications,
such as Kinetex, results in dramatic reductions
in both airborne and structure borne noise. This
noise reduction in the Senior Living environment
creates a more comfortable setting and facilitates
communication among residents and staff.
