LEED for Schools Requirements (Classroom Acoustics Criteria)

• IEQ Prerequisite 3: Minimum Acoustical Performance

• Classroom background noise levels not greater than 45 dBA

• NRC of 0.70 or higher can be achieved

• Compliant with ANSI Standard S12.60-2002

• Reverberation time not greater than 0.6 seconds in classrooms ≤ 10,000 ft3 or 0.7 seconds in larger classrooms ≥ 10,000 ft3 and ≤ 20,000 ft3 can be achieved
