During the 2nd World War, Tomlinson Parbans were a strategic Timber Depot for the storing of Greenheart Timber which the government used to repair the Manchester Ship Canal Locks and Docks.

C A S E S T U DY 1 .

This stone farmhouse was built in 1995 but unfortunately the windows were made from a softwood. With the house being fairly exposed it didn’t take too many years for the windows to rot through.

We were asked to produce replacements from a pre-finished European oak as our customer thought that was the best alternative material.

To create the high performance storm casement windows required to keep the weather at bay, we recommended Accoya® with Teknos Cotswold Oak Finish. We also created new Cottage Style doors and everything produced incorporated modern security with traditional styling.

Western red cedar is ideal for exterior joinery where a stain or oil is used to enhance its rich colour. It is most suited for garage doors, gates and cladding.

CedarAccoya® provides the best dimensional stability ideal for external use and is guaranteed against rot for 50 years.

Accoya®

There are various softwoods, they are a sturdy and popular timber, with distinctive knots and markings. Most commonly used for interior joinery.

SoftwoodsOakOak provides a stylish timeless finish. It is relatively low maintenance whilst being extremely strong and durable providing protection against weather.

Indeed, it is so reliable that for many years it has been – and continues to be – used by scientists as the benchmark against which other treatments and modifications are measured. This is an outstanding Grade II listed cottage, beautifully restored throughout with some superb features, located in the village of Disley.

Disley Hall is a holiday let refurbished by one of our long standing customers, finished and furnished to the highest standards.

Our job was to work closely with the owners and our customer to make sure the detail and finish for the windows, doors, gates and internal staircase would both complement the property and at the same time be sympathetic to the character of the cottage.

The preferred material used was Accoya® for its stability and longevity. As a holiday let it is important that there is little maintenance and that it would remain attractive, lasting for many years to come.

TEKNOS is an industrial topcoat for wood designed for exterior use.

We apply TEKNOS using state of the art spraying systems. Known for its exterior

durability, it is our preferred coating for any of our paint finish projects. It is a robust

topcoat, which typically is used for exterior windows and doors.

Before any of our projects are coated it’s imperative that all our joinery work is seamless! As important as the joinery itself is the preparation of the surface before it goes for coating.

All our products are checked for imperfections and cleaned prior to applying any finishes. This not only provides the best visual finish but ensures a longer lasting product.
