The University of Asmara (UOA)
Established in 1958
Was the only IHE in the country
Had 9 Colleges/Faculties
Enrolment of 1200 students/year
Max. capacity of ≈ 5000 students
HE IN ERITREA
Challenges:
No. of students increased fast
The University could not absorb all
There was a need of expanding access to tertiary education
The GoSE decided to open 7 colleges throughout the country
