    c. Rest room will be closed, and water fountain disabled.

    d) A system for reserving pool time, and for personal responsibility to clean all commonly touched items such as furniture, handrails, gate entry, etc. after each use, has been established and will be monitored by pool users, HOA Board members and the community at large:

    a. Pool users to use the pool reservation notebook located at the mailboxes to reserve a time of use. No more than six (6) people should be inside of the pool gates at any one time.

    b. Pool users to use the sign in & cleaning notebook at the pool ramada to sign in & confirm that cleaning of commonly touched areas was completed after each pool use. Cleaning materials for commonly touched items will be available at the pool ramada.

    c. Pool users to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for social distancing of six feet minimum inside the pool gates as well as washing hands for at least 20 seconds when returning to your residence.

    e) Our summer weekly cleaning service will continue and will document areas cleaned.

    IMPORTANT REMINDER

As we all enter and exit our special community, we are generally cautious and keeping the speed of our vehicles below 20 miles per hour. However, we do occasionally have times when residents are in a hurry or delivery vehicles, workers in the community or caregivers exceed safe neighborhood speed limits. Please slow down and advise others that may not live here to do the same. It matters!

HIGHGATE ROADS RECEIVE CRACK SEAL AND SEAL COAT

On June 16, Sunland Asphalt successfully completed a crack seal and seal coat of our HOA owned roadway. This investment is keeping with past HOA Board approvals for improvements for the roads that includes crack sealing every two to three years and seal coating every five years. Our roads are in very good condition. The current HOA Board approved this investment in May after interviewing and securing firm bids from four different companies. Sunland also completed our last crack seal and seal coat process in July 2015 and prior to that, did the same in April 2010. Crack sealing has also been completed in 2005, 2007, 2012, 2017 and 2019 by several different companies including RG Rossetti Company, Ace Asphalt, Adobe Asphalt as well as Sunland.

Seal coat process starts with cleaning the streets then

    crack sealing is completed

After completion of the project, the roadway looked terrific and the Board was very pleased with the work and professional approach of Sunland Asphalt.

    DID YOU KNOW . . .

Local residential real estate update . . . the “not so new” four bedroom, 2,773 sq. ft. home located

immediately south of our community at 8283 N McCarty Road is still on the market. One home in our community at 8341 N Starfinder Place sold on June 5. The planned 17 lot residential subdivision on McCarty Road, located immediately north of the new Sonoran Desert Reserve by Kachina Homes, has completed significant land preparation. In June, your HOA Board approved a new HOA insurance policy through American Family Insurance, with premium savings of $300+ annually. Thank you, Chris Bruyn, for helping facilitate this process! Bobby Pintor’s crew made improvements to concrete area and former tree well next to the mailboxes. Work is complete and the raised concrete area has now been leveled for enhanced safety for the community.

July 11 windstorm hits Highgate – our community was hit again this summer with another “microburst” or significant windstorm that has caused damage to trees in the neighborhood. One home on Starfinder lost a good sized tree and saguaro cactus. A few houses down, a large branch was “disconnected”.

Welcome to Highgate! Victor and Jody Chichester purchased the home at 8341 N Starfinder Place. Your Highgate HOA Board is observing the operations of several important community assets

that are nearing their “end of life”. These would not be replaced until they are no longer functional. These assets include:

Replacement of Pool sand filter (it is over 10 years old).

Replacement of Spa Booster pump (20 years old?) – new seal/gaskets were replaced in May 2020.

Front gate controllers & equipment. Spa “on demand” heater. Two sections of roadway in cul-de-sacs that

have significant cracks (alligatoring) Steve Ratz reported at the last HOA Board meeting that because of the draining and replacement of the water at the pool by Classic Pools, there has been a reduction in the use of chemicals. Pool electrical use has also been reduced by adjustments in the variable speed pumps with savings close to $300 so far this year. Steve is monitoring our reservation and cleaning protocols at the pool - all going well! Apache Red is the approved color for landscape rock– Wildcat Red is no longer easily available; however, we have located this rock that was used for the front entrance improvements at Kalamazoo Materials, Inc. (520) 575-9601. For revisions in your front yard or to your home, please complete an Architectural/ Landscape Revision Form (located on the next page and on our website). Approved Dunn-Edwards paint colors for the exterior of our homes are located at the pool storage room. Contact one of the Board members for access.
